If you do they'll probably give you a game. You'll definitely get a place on the bench at the very least.

The answer to the question though is almost certainly yes. I can;t see them being classed as dangerous, it may depend on what mood the particular steward is in though !
If they do query it then ask for a supervisor to give a second opinion, and obvioulsy you will have a good reason for taking them so just explain.
Worst case they might ask you to take them to reception and collect them after the game, but I doubt it.

Shades could be right though - do you play right wing ?

Yes.

Used to play football on a Sat and regularily took kit in.

Stewards look in the bag, you say "its full of sweaty kit", they recoil.

I've got stranger looks. One game last season, they searched folders full of my work.

You might take the laces out and garotte the person in front of you. Amazing that this should even need asking - and it does - given the ridiculous price of tickets.

This might be one benefit of the planned expansion to 30K capacity - the club might start to recognize that the public is doing them a favour by purchasing tickets, rather than the club doing the public a favour by letting them in at 30 quid a pop.

Yoy will be told that you might hit somebody with them, and be issued with a two match ban 5 minutes before kick-off, two games from time.

Any questions - tell them you want to get the players to autograph them!
