Frescues and Bents

by Aeroguide » 31 Jul 2009 20:08

Has the pitch been returfed?... Just wondering what type of grass the club prefer.
I've heard Rye-grass is very hard wearing. But then on the other hand so are Frescues,
but not very good for grazing cattle.

They do say that Frescues are the "wonder grass^ but you must not let it grow too Long
But in the Hunt for the perfect grass, I would go for a mixture of Frescues and bents from
Noel Smith Nurseries.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this drivel

The pitch looked in very good condition when I saw it yesterday.

Yeah, the club should probably do some frescos in the concourses, Michaelangelo style.

Renaissance like...

I would hope, given that there hasn't been any sporting action on it since the middle of May, that it would be. I prefer to reserve judgement on a pitch until the weather starts turning harsher. So November/December time.
