Elm Park

by Z175 » 19 Apr 2011 10:19

Is there a commorative plaque in the Elm Park housing estate anywhere? I was just passing the other day and had a look around, couldn't see anything. Just seemed to remember reading somewhere there was the odd sign of its history. Can anyone tell me if thats the case? thanks

There's also a bit of the retaining wall at the Tilehurst End left, as well as a post from the Town End turnstiles. Other than that, nothing remains.

Handbags (i'm sure it was him) had some photos of the area. He might post some up if you ask him kindly.

As I recall Barrett - or whoever built the place - agreed with the council there would be a plaque or something on the place was the centre spot was.

In practice I don't think there is anything whatsoever there to recall the past apart from the aforementioned bit of wall....

I had a wander down there once to have a look and there isn't much there really. I popped into the Spread Eagle because I heard there was some memorabilia on the walls but even this was a bit paltry.
