Negative_Jeff Time to end the festive football?
by Svlad Cjelli » 21 Dec 2011 14:46
Negative_Jeff So Arsenal are waiting on ASLEF to decide if the threatened tube strike on Boxing Day will lead to the postponement of the match against Wolves. Appararantly the interests of the supporters are paramount. Well the Reading/Brighton game is taking place on a day when we already know there will be no trains at all. So as usual on a Boxing Day I will not be there. Years ago there used to be public transport and football on Christmas Day, now there is no public transport but matches on Boxing Day. Why is this? There are no matches on Christmas Eve which is a saturday this year but the trains would get Brighton fans (and me) home. Time to end the festive football?

Very definitely! It would restore peace to an awful lot of households where the football followers endanger their lives on an annual basis when they announce that Boxing Day and/or New Year's day will be disrupted as they clear off to the footie!

SHORT AND CURLY A Christmas break would suit me as in 40+ years I have never seen a Boxing day match.
