Irvinchangeyaname Love it. Only Reading fans could be irate at the fact that we've been deemed a top game by another side!

See the previous comment - it's not about how good the team is, it's how they can maximise ticket revenue from that game.

You might feel a nice warm feeling at being regarded as a "top club" by Barnsley's ticket office -personally I'd rather have an extra £7 in my pocket.

Sadly there will always be a few that will pay whatever a club asks, if and only if there are no fans will there be a reduction in prices.

You can get a pair of tickets for £19.50 each (or a pair for Donny at £9.50 each) if you collect four tokens in The Sun from Saturday.

Collect 4 tokens from the Sun (Runs till Feb the 6th) and apparently you can get 2 tickets to this match (or the Donny game) for £9.50.

Jerry St Clair Barnsley have form.

When we went there in 1994 they closed the normal away end (which was £7 to get in) and forced us to sit in a section of their old main stand and charged us £12. I recall the travelling Royals being outraged. It was about £6-7 to stand on the Southbank at the time so an enormous increase.

is that when we won 2-0 - i was there - barnsley were a fairly "big" side then and we a very little team - how times have changed eh?

Don't make the journey then, and you'll save even more.

Yes your right I remember this me and me mate walked round to the smart stand on the other side which had only just been built and watched it there saving 5 quid each a lot back then!

I tried to to the same with a mate, but we were there quite early and clearly didn't look northern enough. Didn't have a dodgy tache perhaps. I'm sure it was £8 in that stand and £12 in ours.

The away end was shut for the same reason the home end was shut. It was a terrace and they'd just passed the three year deadline for converting.

No, the away end had just had seats plonked on the open terrace, a la Swindon. It had been open the game before and was used again that season. It did seem to be a "let's rip of the rich southerners" approach.

Just had a look at the prices for our game at Oakwell and seriously - WTF

For some reason, we've been lumped into their category A band of pricing whereas the Barnsley v Boro game (far more local) is a category B game. As such, our ticket prices will be:

Category A

Adult: £30
OAP: £18
Student (18-20): £18
Juvenile (U18): £18
U12: £7

£30 for Oakwell? Ouchie!

Not this!

22 quid Adults.

Fair play to Barnsley for seeing sense.
