Semi Final MeROFLchandise....

by Turns8 » 30 Mar 2015 19:11

Oh dear... http://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/article/commemorate-the-royals-historic-wembley-occasion-2361353.aspx

Special Badge of Honour: only for supporters

In the build up to Reading Football Club’s historic FA Cup Semi-Final showdown with Arsenal, we have two fantastic merchandise promotions running to help fans celebrate the occasion in style.

First up, you can get your hands on an official 2014/15 replica shirt with a very special ‘Badge of Honour’, which is exclusive to the supporters! In recognition of the Royals’ first FA Cup Semi-Final in 88 years, you can have a commemorative badge added to all newly purchased shirts free of charge.

Don’t worry if you’ve already got your shirt, our dedicated team at the Megastore will be happy to apply the patch to your current shirt for just £5*.

This badge is available when buying both in-store and online. If you are purchasing online, don’t forget to click the Badge of Honour tick box.

Please note: the 'Badge of Honour' is exclusive to fans and the Reading FC First Team will not be wearing the badge when they face Arsenal in April.

Not for me, but don't see the issue. It gives fans a chance to celebrate a great achievement by the club. I don't think we will be in an FA cup semi for a while after this and the shirt won't exactly be remembered as one we achieved in otherwise...

Also notice that this year there's no half price shirts which there normally is at this time of year. Still trying to squeeze as much money out of supporters as possible off the back of the FA cup run.
Did anybody else notice that this year we didn't get the second £10 voucher at Christmas. All part of the perks they listed when we bought them. How much did they save by not sending that out?

I'd rather they did a run of the '27 kit.

£20 at the start of the season though.

So they were flogging all replica kit off at half price from March 10th to 15th (not just on match days as previously) http://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/article/reading-fc-shirts-now-50-off-2324440.aspx and then bumped it back up to full price to catch the gullible on the back of the Wembley visit.

Given the price of Wembley tickets and the dire football that fans have had to witness for most of the season, it would have been nice if the club had resisted the urge to try to screw some extra money out of them for kit that will soon be out of date. A 'gift' of half price kit is really the least fans deserve for this season.

I see they mention a limited edition scarf also.
Hope its not one of those half and half ones....will be enough red in our end as it is.

Maybe selling kit at full price to the people going to their first game of the season might mean we don 't go back to Vibrac this season.
Be honest, do you really think people buying club shirts at this point are hardcore fans ?

tbh if people want a half and half scarf (I can't understand why) I'd rather it was half decent/generated cash for the club than the pikey crap flogged at the Bradford games

But the badge of honour...

I'm tempted to buy the shirt as a memento of our best cup run in generations. Can't remember the last time I bought one.

My son was!

Gave his original for this season away to someone who helped him out when his luggage went missing on holiday and has just been stung £45 for a replacement.

Shouldn't all shirts have been reduced to a fiver/tenner by now in preparation for our next lovely launch of a new kit in July...

...oh no I forgot we've got an SF coming up so let's keep the price as high as ever for a while longer then reduce them to a fiver/tenner whether they have the "special" badge or not

They're hardly taking advantage of fans given that there have been at least three opportunities (a voucher for the early adopters and two 50% sales) to buy the shirt at a significant reduction. No-one is forced to buy @ £45

What's the point if even the players aren't going to sport the 'badge of honor' :|

Always the way with EVERY club. Chelsea did it for the Champions League final in 2012. Loads of leftover stock of the outgoing shirt, so make it into a CL souvenir shirt and charge a premium.

Of course it's a business, they should be shaking us by the ankles at this point, to think otherwise is laughable,

The state of this thread

Business in trying to maximise profit shocker!!

No one is forcing you to buy a shirt, and if you really want it you could have taken advantage of a number of promotions run this season.
