Sun TzuThat Friday Feeling I'm not suggesting that it's going to happen but the club could take the view that a "re-alignment" would serve them better, rewarding, as it would, those customers that are actively investing in the club.
But what benefit is there in taking away the points earned by someone who you know has a strong link to the club but for whatever reason hasn't been so involved for a while ? Got to be worth encouraging them to return rather than persuading those with no links to start. If the people who have stopped coming don't use their points anyway then resetting the account makes no difference.
And what incentive is there to a new supporter who might want to start coming to matches on a regular basis but will never get the pick of the seats because the "day one" points requirement is upped every season?
I was just playing Devil's Advocate but the more I think about it the more sense it makes for points over, say, three years old to expire. Regular attendees will still get the best seats. Newbies will see a fair loyalty reward. Everyone's a winner.
