Billy The Fish Unbelievable! So now I understand why people leave before the end of the game. I'm at the back of the East stand in the middle of a block and it would always be difficult to reach the buses in eighteen minutes or whatever it is. And what if there'd been extra time last night? So the club want to encourage people to use public transport do they? If you do miss the bus, what then?
Exactly. We are in Y25, so we barely get back to the bus in time for its 'official' leaving time (final whistle + 10 mins, I believe), because we have to circumnavigate the whole stadium on our return. Therefore, we leave a couple of minutes early just to get a head of steam up ahead of the hordes streaming out of the North Stand - even then we have to run the gauntlet of all the West Standers and Away fans that are heading in the opposite direction to get back into town (we've tried the Northern Way/B&Q direction, BTW, but that takes even longer) .
After the Liverpool game, our well-meaning neighbours joshingly tried to stop us leaving early in attempt to get us to revel in the historic nature of the victory. It was all done in great jest and we would have loved to join in, but I would just ask that people show understanding about people leaving early because of the daft way these Stagecoach routes are set up. They really shouldn't be made to park at what is effectively the away end of the ground, given that they are transporting home fans. It's absolutely stupid, and I have complained many times to no avail. Fortunately, up to now the drivers have always done a headcount. All it needs is a jobsworth, clock-watching driver to do the run, and we'd be stuffed.
Once again, I have to say: roll on Green Park Station!
