Coppelled Streets *** Warning, Warning, Positivity In Abundance. Leave Now If Easily Offended. HNA? Will NOT Accept Any Responsibility For Those Angered By Heart Warming Topics ***

You compare this football club to many in the Championship, and it now stands out in many positive ways compared to how we looked at things about 11 years ago PP (Pre Plastic).

I used to look at clubs like Leicester, Wolves, Crystal Palace and I'd wish we could one day be on a level playing field in terms of stadium, facilities, spending power, income and so on, and we are now.

If we do go down, this isn't little Reading any more!

We have a solid foundation here at Reading Football Club and it's one that can only help continue to take this football club forward.

The stadium, training facilities, youth academy, dome, hotel, conference centre, it all makes this football club one that others now look at like I used to them, and think "I hope one day our club can be like theirs".

Football is about promotion and relegation, winning streaks and losing streaks... So what if we go down. The football club will still be here next season and many of us will still be as well, and we'll still look forward to each and every game as we always have, meet up and have a drink and have a good day out win, lose or draw.

This football club is better off than many others in the Championship and that of the country too. I'm proud of that fact, I know you are too.

I hope this topic hasn't offended anyone.

Much love.

Good post.

It's like anything really. You can't take a snapshot and be upset (or happy). You have to take a step back and look at the general trend.

Our general trend has been an almost exponential UP. That line is of course going to wobble - down, up, down, up.. and yes even if we don't go down this season we're bound to go down at some point! But the point is our general trend is going to be up. It's a bit like house prices I guess.
We won't fall down to the level we were at when we came UP to the Championship.

Just what makes you so sure of that? And I really wouldn't use an empty media centre in support of that argument!

At least if we go down i wont find people wandering around the west stand asking various non english speaking stewards where they should be sitting!!
I along with most fans hope we dont go down, but if the worst should happen then at least i know that i will be surrounded by genuine supporters every week, and not the hangers on that turn up just to see how good the opposition are, or whether Rooney really is that fat and ugly in real life

You've changed your tune, all you have been doing is slagging the club off

I assume Huntley you were joking about the original poster's comments regarding the club's foundation's despite his "Championship Chairman" comments earlier this week;

Coppelled Streets
sam1reed Don't agree, he's doing the best he can at the moment with what he's got. Limited ingredients, trying to come up with a black forest gataeu when he can only muster a 99p shop muffin.

Exactly.

Championship Chairman!!

The blame firmly at Madejski's feet.

Wonder how much money club will get selling-off all the surplus seats, metalwork and turnstyles which we won't be needing next Season in the Championship.

Do what MK Dons did - get temporary stands in for the 'big games', like against Wolves or Saints...

I see a plan forming..!!!

I'm far from happy with John Madejski, far from happy!

After finishing 8th last season we should have built on it, but we didn't. Ticket prices went up and we were told it would fund new signings and new stands - it hasn't.

So no, I'm not happy, but step back and look at the FOOTBALL CLUB, not the chairman, and it's actually a good view. We're not little Reading anymore and that in itself feels great!

Whistle We may still have all the buildings but if we go down will we have the money to staff them?

Running all this infrastructure on gates of 12,000 and diddly squat TV money ain't gonna happen easy.

Where are you getting this 12,000 crap? We were averaging 16,000 plus before the promotion season. If anything, we'll have a few more bums on seats, especially if we start off well and look to be in a promotion race again!

The cost of tickets will inevitably hinder the attendances, unless tickets are reduced, but that wont happen, and that's a topic for many of the other threads any way.

unless the football is so bad for the rest of the season that it puts fans off for life, there's no way that relegation will see us with less fans than when we went up. Even if a load of those who only came along because we were in the premier/going up find alternative things to do on a Saturday afternoon, a fair percentage will have been gained as fans. The idea that everyone who didn't support Reading before we started doing well will suddenly cease to support us if we go down is just nonsense.

You're the one who's saying suddenly - I'm thinking a couple of dull seasons (Potentially!!) down the line. Anyway the big factor is the TV money not the gate money.
