winchester_royal Just you watch buddy.

I expect a written apology on here in a month or so.

I'll do better than that - I'll happy take on a bet for however much you like. If ST renewal prices go down from the early-bird renewal figure you win, if they are that figure or above I win.

How much do you want to put onto it?

Tell you what, I'll consult my source once more and then I'll be happy to wager whatever amount you want to put on it.

In the current economic climate, one cannot afford to be frivolous with one's money.

Dirk Gently I'm a childish egotist, who is too ignorant to understand the concept of careful betting.

The 17 Bus Make it the same price, but add the first two rounds of the League cup and the first round of the FA cup we play in to early renewers as a bonus, obviously only home ties.

That's a great shout. I'd be happy with that.

I agree - free cup games in early rounds for those who renewed early.

We'd be unlikely to get much of a crowd for a first round game against, say, Orient, so you might get a fair few early ST holders coming along if they don't actually have to pay for the pleasure.

That's good idea that has been suggested, except that cup ties cost the club money.

Because cup-tie revenue is shared with the way club and the FL (for the League Cup) they'd actually have to hand over money to those equivalent to a share of the ticket prices for the 9,000 early-renewers, even if they didn't actually turn up at the match.

So a good idea, but an expensive one for the club that I can't see taking off.

Never forget that the one year of running the playing side on a PL budget has come to an end now, so there'll have to be economies across the football club.

Sadly, I can see enforced departures of people across the club, and a general "slimming down" - which is sad for those employees who've done their job perfectly well over the past year and have had no influence on how well or badly the players have done - they're the ones for whom this year's failure really hits home.

It wont happen, but if they did offer free cup tickets for the early rounds - we'd have 2 away cup games and end up losing both

Do many clubs still operate a 'cup games included' season ticket? How does that work under the LC shared revenue policy?

Not many, beacsue it's always a bit of a gamble, financially. Those that do factor a figure for cost of cup games into the money they take from the ST sales.

I cant understand why the club has not made an announcement unless they want to allow the dust to settle. They must have at least two scenarios in place dependent on the division we would have been playing in.

You /I took the bait

The gamble hasn't paid off.....unless you consider

We are consigned to watching 23 games instead of the unbearably shuffled kick-off times of the Prems 18.

Tough sh1t if you, (like me and the other 8999) bought your ST early...........thats just the way it goes.

Regardless of ST deals or not, some folk will still turn up purely because they support Reading......and that's just how it should be.

Don't cry into your credit card statement just because you thought buying early, entitled you to watch Torres/Roonaldo and Robinhood , you knew the deal the same as I did.

are you telling us that the club was running on the same costs as in the prem this last season, if so what happened to cutting the cloth, as Mr M said after relegation, and the fall in wages suggested at the time??

The wages were no doubt "uplifted" mid-season (SHunt/Doyle et-al)
