Royal Lady I think you only got an email if you order tickets online or something, as I didn't get one.

I've ordered tickets online and not got one so it can't be that.

I've never ordered tickets on-line...always do so over the phone and I received the satisfaction survey. No idea what process was used.

Probably a 10% sample from their database or something.

PEARCEY I had this today as well saying it would take 15 minutes to complete.
I pressed delete.

In which case, TBH, I don't think you have might right to complain in future if you are not happy with the catering or stewarding etc.

The club seems to have gone to some trouble to find out the wishes and concerns of the supporters, if supporters can't be bothered to spend 15 minutes voicing them, then they can hardly complain that the club isn't interested in the fans or that their voice is not being heard.

I haven't got a problem with the catering or stewarding. No issues at the moment...but if I have I'll let you know.
Besides if I had any issues I would go and see someone direct face to face and sort it out that way.

Indeed.

I got one, filled it in. It is not just about catering and stewards but also things like "do you want a dedicated family area"- actually no. If the precious little darlings are too vulnerable to hearing the odd oxf*rd/oxf*rd/bastard comments- THEN DON'T BRING THEM TO FOOTBALL YOU MORON.

They asked for suggestions on improvements to the catering- I put that a good quality hot soup would be welcome on cold winter days- I would rather have that than a soggy pie that has been kept warm for hours. Perhaps they could look at extending the range of beers they sell by putting in vending machines that dispense decent beers in plastic bottles.

I told them I don't give a flying one about half time entertainment. I would rather be in the bar checking how other teams are doing.

They asked how to sell more programmes- perhaps they could have a unique number- draw at the end of the season- prize a free ST.

I was not aware I could report trouble via text live if there was a problem in my area of the ground. I do now.

Whether any of these are taken up or not is no biggie, but surely it is better to give your opinion directly to the club, rather than on a message board.

People will want to bring kids to football (or have to so they don't miss the football themselves), so surely it's better that all the kids are corralled into one dedicated area?

Then there can be enforced standards of behaviour (e.g. less swaering etc) in that area and everyone else in the ground can get ob woth being traditional football supporters. This actually follows FL guidelines.

I disagree

I think there should be a family area (as there already is), but much bigger so that ALL families sit there and those who don't are made fully aware that certain parts of the ground, i.e the East Stand are home to fans who are more likely to use the occasional curse word.

Pre-smoking ban, I would've been embarrassed to sit in a smoking section of a restaurant and start complaining about people smoking

Don't think its as easy as that. I take my kids and still swear...it does go with the game unfortunately. If you take passion out of it there's not much left.

I am all for kids going to football, but I dont want to be sat near aload of them that are hardly interested in the game, all those yearts ago you started as a kid on the Town End, as a teen you might decide the Southbank was for you, or you could be part of it by standing on the edges, you had a good choice.

For me L West, old farts, who want to watch the game, not really expected to be a loud stand, U/West should be posh seats for people with more money than sense, tho is not very posh up there TBH. East, good mix, has a singing area, and many others who will join in at times, inc oldies rattling jewellery. North Stand, cant really suss this one, is a bit of a mixed bag, much depends if the South is in use for home fans, as too many day trippers, (as said by ASR elsewhere) and too much noise from the drummer, annoying as hell.

I have not had a survey but would want to make the suggestion of a safe standing area.

You're aiming that at the wrong people - legally, the club can't do anything like that unless there is a change of legislation first.

Where is the current 'family area' ?

I don't see why families should be herded into one area, they should be entitled to sit wherever they like. Agree that they should also understand that at football you are going to get the odd bit of bad language and they need to deal with that as a family rather than expect it not to happen.

The ideal though would be that we had a 'singing' area a bit like the old South Bank where anyone who wants to make some noise can go and just sing. I'd nominate the current moaning area in Y25 as a good place for that to be set up, but suspect the ones who sit there would never be able to stop going on about standing or stewards long enough to sing anything

... and the change of legislation will only come about if the football clubs can present evidence to Parliament that there is a strong demand for standing areas. They might gather such evidence by - say - including it in a questionnaire ...

Thank god that some people have the guts to ignore/defy stupid, ill-considered, knee-jerk legislation!

Didn't see Millwall worrying too much about legislation, licensing authorities etc. during the recent home leg of their playoff game!! Standing around the majority of the stadium throughout the game and even at Millwall no-one seemed to be harmed by it!!

Are we really to believe that the licensing authorities within the Reading area are significantly more strict than those throughout the rest of the country?!

No, I reckon that RFC have simply decided to make life tough for themselves and try and enforce regulations way tighter than they have to legally....

As for Millwall, could you let us know what the outcome of the discussions between them and their licensing authority were after the game ? I'm assuming you are privy to them and can let us know if there were any issues.

Nope, the obligations that will satisfy a local licensing authority are that a football clubs takes all reasonable steps to stop spectators standing in areas designed for seated accommodation.

It's about taking those ""reasonable steps" - and being seen to do so that counts - not actually succeeding in preventing standing that counts.

How successful those "reasonable steps" are depends upon the nature of the crowd and the nature and context of the match - it's obviously much easier to be successful with a largely compliant crowd (as Reading home crowds tend to be) than a much more "volatile" crowd as a Millwall play-off crowd are likely to be. The same applies with managing a large away crowd - success doesn't have to be achieved to keep the local licensing authority happy - just showing that all reasonable efforts have been made.

Swearing occurs all round the ground - family enclosure or not.
Parents who don't know the score, will do soon enough.

Furthermore, if they go to an away match as a family and 'can't believe their ears', they will do soon enough also.
