Do we actually need entertaining at half-time?

I'd be quite happy just chatting to the people around me.

(...and I don't fancy getting my pom-poms out, sorry RL).

Best pre-match entertainment was when those two helicopters virtually landed on the pitch to deliver the matchball at the last game of the season a few years back (checking the match reports on this site confirms it was Bournemouth at home last game of the 00-01 season).

And I do wish the half-time scores would get read out, rather than just put up on the big screen.

Play Your Cards Right, Free Pizzas and hitting the corner flag are cringingly embarrassing. We don't need entetaining. Go to the bog, get a drink or just stay in the seats and chat to who you've come with about anything and everything. The "entertainment" we get is symptomatic of the moribund present-day attitude that something has to be happening the whole time or we will get bored. Well, I am bored by this constant barrage of drivel. Give us some quiet time FFS.

Oh, and another thing. When they put the half-times up they never include the final results of early games. How does that work? Let's see...we'll tell you scores which may well have no resemblance to the final reults but we won't tell you any final results that are definite. Idiots.

There's a nice, simple, question that needs to be asked : "Has anyone, ever, decided to come to a football match because of the half-time entertainment?"

I suspect the answer is a resounding "NO", which tells us that the whole thing is irrelevent! If Reading FC want to increase half-time revenue, they need to get Compass to employ a better quality of catering staff, which will move the queues quicker and increase product sales. Apart from that, whatever they do will not have an effect on how many people come to the game.

I'd like to see hotdog/drinks etc sellers coming around instead of going to the concourse. Would increase revenue as there are many fans who can't be bothered with due to the wait for food and drink.

The Knicks had a disabled team called the 'Rolling Knicks' who came on at half time, perhaps you could be the 'Rolling Thames Valley Jets'.....

Strange to relate, I come to a football match to be entertained by the football.
However, since the entertainment value of the football on offer at the MadStad has been so abysmal recently, I've even resorted to watching the Reading 107 futile games at half time. I can report that this doesn't qualify as entertainment either.
