In hindsight i'm glad i never renewed. I've decided to ease back a little but i've decided this season is like an endurance test for me. We all knew it was the dying embers of an era but someones pissed on those embers.

The fans? Rogers? Madejski? Who is responsible for the urination of those embers..

Certainly not the majority of the support Alivey, so that will leave a couple of other factors.

what can be a metaphor for kindling to let those fires roar again? A take over? or should we accept the fire is out and begin a new one?

I completely agreee with thou voice. This buy one get one free is completely undermining the loyalty showed by the March April renewers and in the long term is bad business because the majority will think twice about being conned again. They need to look very seriously at doing something for this loyal group (eg a serious discount for that group for next season ..if they are prepared to renew).

I'm a sth (from Elm Park days - not sure why I feel I need to qualify my plasticity or otherwise) - but today I didn't go because it was a mate's 40th birthday and I was happy I didn't - not sure I've ever felt that before. Will I renew? Yes - probably. F*ck knows why.

So far this season I have been to 1 home game and 3 away - yet I have an ST. It isn't the losing that bugs me - or even crap football, most of us saw a lot of that in the past!

No I can't be bothered because we were ripped off. No mention of 'cutting cloth' or need for a mass exodus at the time of buying STs..... So why are we paying the 2nd highest ST price to watch a substandard team?

Next season I will watch the Royals at every away game and when they are at home I will watch either Reading Town or Oxford.

I am sick of RFC rip off prices and cunning little scams.

A little optimism would go a long way. There is natually a huge amount of frustration / criticism being directed at the team. The brief glimmer of hope that we could contain a team and actually win makes this frustration tangible. The team is too fractured and any lead is tenuous. This lack of conviction on the pitch makes for interesting viewing and listening from the stands. The diatribes from individuals in the stands are like listening to a wounded beast. The frustration of watching this club struggle so badly so far this season is way below the transitional standard we expected.
Each time we have scored we have come out the second half (barring Barnsley, though this also had a can we fcuk it up moment or two) and pressed the self destruct button. It is bad being at home watching this and for the HST holders who do not do away games it will be soul destroying. Actually , hang on - going to away games is not much better this season. There is no convincing control of the game this season and with transition there should be signs of steady mental and tactical ransition - not the sporadic twitches we see at the moment. Will things bed in and settle down, and will Rogers have the time to turn it around. The results and supporters backing might hold the answers.

When the boos at the end result turn to more vocal barracking of the Rogers regime then it will be interesting to see where SJM goes with this. Will the platitudes be enough?

So then, anyone going to bother turning up for the Middlesbrough game?

Bracknell are at home to Taunton - they could do with some support.....

And no Jimmy Kebe.

I've got a season ticket and I've always tried to go, but this year I'm really struggling.

My issue is a simple one - entertainment.

We used to play in an exciting way, pacy, quick pass and move, goals, wins, exciting.

Now it's just so BORING.

We have a load of players I don't know passing the ball around in circles before someone gives it away.

They also can't grind out a win, shit themselves when they go ahead and go for long periods of games without doing anything.

It's ok now, but the idea of a cold tuesday night scrap in February against someone rubbish is certainly not tantalising me at the moment.

I know what you're saying. At the moment my kids and I are starting to think our time is more valuable than the money we have 'wasted' on season tickets. Taking into account travelling time, supporting RFC eats up nearly 6 hours a time. As for entertainment, at present we get far more from watching our local village team in the Spartan League.

I'm glad I renewed my season ticket. For all the shit that goes on before and after games, it's nice to just sit there with your mates and watch a game of football.

It is true. When the last Reading Matter came out the 3 editors had each assessed 8 of the clubs in this league for prices. What we wanted to do was show the minimum price that could be paid in order to have an angle on 'affordability'. At the time [iirc] Ipswich were more expensive than us, and Newcastle had not set prices. We were well ahead of the pack in terms of being massively overpriced.

RFC were far and away overpriced for kids and other concessions. Many do student concessions which RFC avoid like the plague [although many students are penalised if they take a gap year to try to save up for Uni costs etc....] Many clubs also offered free tickets for under 7s etc as well as special family prices. The best gesture I have seen of late was Burnley returning ST cash to those who bought before they werer promoted. Sort of puts RFC doubling prices on promotion in a whole new perspective.

Some such as Derby were offering [via sponsors] a free ST if you took out a mobile phone contract. This contract was under £350 per year - so go figure why we are so pricy.

Is anyone feeling positive about the price they have paid to watch a bunch of kids?

Well lets see some suggestions for next season here, perhaps the club will take a look and action some.

There is a problem and they need to move on it, sitting back and hoping to fill the ground will not work, we should be getting 18k at this level( we are at the mo), and especially if we are struggling they need the fans behind them, but without the ST holders they will be dropping soon.

Although you need to describe what Burnley's deal ACTUALLY was....

At the beginning of LAST season they offered a full refund to people who bought a ST should they get promoted. Not something they expected to have to honour. Their CE was pretty upset about having to repay the money but of course promotion softened the blow a little.
It was a case of trying to boost last season's ST numbers with an bit of an eye catching deal that they didn;t expect to come true. You make it sound like as a result of promotion they decided to fork out cash - they had no choice !!

I thought QPRs season tickets were the most expensive, or was that just last season and they've cut them dramatically for this one?

Turn the Mad into a waste disposal site, build a new ground in central Ding, and charge a fiver a game to get in.
