Snowball If you simply multiply attendances by season ticket price you get a fair approximation of income

23500 550 £12,925,000
17707 450 £07,968,150 61.6%

That's a 38% reduction. Pease feel free to carry on trying other combinations of arbitrary figures that come near to 60% though.

Snowball
ayjaydee The cost of a box in the Prem was around £30k, the company I work for did a deal during last season when we still had a chance of Prem this year at around £16k. They cannot give them away this year. Plus in the Prem every box day was a full blown meal, now you have a choice nothing, buffet or meal. All impacting on the cost. Some of the Prem boxes were 2 year deals which ended last season.
Not wishing to be an apologist for His Madj but these figures together with attendance figures quoted above do go some way to explaining why we are in shit creek.

SANITY. Well done, A-J-D.

How many boxes at 30K were there? Anyone know? 33/34 of them and that's another million gone = another 10% off income.

There’s 28 boxes. About half look occupied this season. The hospitality areas look to be deserted too. Back in the PL era, they were using and filling 7 hospitality suites. Revenue from perimeter boards, stand sponsors, programme ads and shirt sponsorship will probably have plummeted too. And that’s before you start looking at attendances and the money that the fan-on-the-street spunks on food, beer, programmes, golden gamble and tat from the Megastore.

So about as accurate as his mathematical demonstration that Shane Long is a quality player last season.

Much as I absolutely detest the idea of backing el twatball on this one...

but if you've already got a 38% reduction in revenue from match ticket sales, then add on all the associated revenue like matchday merchandising, sponsorship, hospitality and catering and you could boost that to not far from 60% quite conceivably.

Especially with a BIG reduction in corporate box and hospitality prices and the 1/2 - 2/3s drop in it's attendence that several posters have mentioned.

This is where that other useless board toerag (in addition to Howe!) - Ian Wood Smith, who is the Clubs Chief Acountant, should be explaining whats going on -

Lets hope that the books are in a better shape that the close-by south coast team that are about to go tees up!

Shows exactly how much you know about things. IWS is the other Director who sits on the board.

The Club's "accountant"(Financial Controller, actually) is Bryan Stabler!

Apologies - made a mistake (and at least I accept that unlike others on here!) - sentiment is still right though and Stabler should be explaining!

He'll undoubtably be explaining it to the people who he has to explain it to - which is the board and the shareholders. Although of course it's not down to him to explain why receipts are down, that would be the Sales and Marketing Director.

It's all very well telling us that we are 60% down on revenue. You have to ask why?
It's because we were relegated from the Premier league without really trying to stay, then blew two years parachute money on a befuddled Manager and his pathetic attempt to go back up. Then you spend millions on a Hotel extension and media centre but not on the team. Then sell your best players in order to repay a loan (sorry, "recalled overdraft"). Sack your new Manager by "mutual consent" because of results (what was it? 7 points from 10) and fail to replace him with anyone. Someone made those business desicions, they have to take the blame. Don't try to justify your "cloth-cutting" to me. I've spent £4000 in the last three years on your club, which is probably £4000 more than you have. Bigger than Arsenal, ffs.

Ofcourse your sales are down, you've lost your market place and your new product is sh*t!!! whose fault is that?

Sorry everyone, had to get that off my chest,..............I do feel a bit better now
