Best Places to sit?

by Snowball » 05 Jan 2011 10:10

Before I had accumulated enough RFC points I usually ended up in the North End
right at the front, near the goal. Great for close-up action but pretty crap for anything else.

Once was in Y26/27 but hated it. I want to stand up or sit down, but make yer oxf*rd mind up!

TBF I did meet one guy there who could dress himself in the morning. I was quite impressed.

Then got a ST in West G6 row D. Near the half-way so balanced for the action, but the crowd
is a bit quiet.

This week I was in West G4 (library) but a good view of the second half attacks.

I've also tried high in the North End, gives a good idea of the game, if a bit further away, and more atmosphere.

So which stand is best folks, and high for the wider view or low for the close-drama?

Upper West, as far to the back and as near the red seats as possible.

Row PP, seats 165 - 169 in other words.........

My two boys would like to sit in the front row anywhere in the ground but I like to see what is going on all over the pitch i.e people making runs off the ball etc. So, since Dad pays for the season tickets it's Upper West in GU4 !!
We have previously sat at the back of the East Stand right on the half way line. View is actually better than where I sit now but GU4 is perfect for getting out quickly and back to car park before the rush !

dont have a season ticket - so have tried all stands this year, inc bar 1871.
lower west middle - too quiet
upper west - nice view not worth the extra money
bar 1871 - the other half got reprimanded as he stood in the aisle when we scored :| beer poor, but nice to drink in something other than a concrete shelter
north - liked the view, ok atmosphere
east - y26 - good atmosphere but a few mongs
east - y20 (see family club thread)
east y23 - good atmosphere less mongs no blankets. and the person next to me offered me a wine gum

i prefer to be sitting in about row f - dont get wet but close enough to the action

Mid way North. High enough to avoid players pre-match shooting practice.

At home, in the warm, in a nice armchair, where you will not be fleeced for £25+ for a matchday ticket to watch dire football week in week out, in the hope that someone just might do something a little bit special, but alas that moment will never come.

You'll also avoid £3.50 a pint beer that tastes of piss, moronic fans who don't understand the offside rule berating the linsman at all opportunities, and best of all you won't ever develop that fatal illness that befalls all football fans at some stage, hope.

God i miss Glen Little!

if you do insist on going, go for the east stand, somewhere in the middle

When I am with my youngest two.... somewhere near the front of the East stand - close to players and Kingsley

When I am with older two...... mid to high up in North stand as you get decent views and can normally get 3 seats together at late notice

By myself... Mid to back of y24,25,26... best atmosphere , decent view... can shout at the mongs to shut up and tell them they no nothing about football at all.

Im a right slag, I've sat in every block of the stadium now, GU1 right round to R32 in the glory years when it was suddenly harder to get tickets, I normally choose the furthest back row so I can stand, KK. fFor the Burnely game, was in GU2, very quiet but great views especially as we were facing that way for a change in the second half.

Same row as the tunnels to the concourse - you can arrive as late as possible and leave as early as possible

Wycombe Royal The higher the better in my opinion......

Agreed. I prefer going higher up. It makes the stadium seem more impressive and you get a better overview of the game.

G4 is the best the West Lower has in terms of atmosphere, particularly if theres a poor lino/subs running up and down.

I find high in a corner (side rather than end) gives a great overview of the pitch... but I struggle with picking out the numbers on the shirts and recognising players easily from there. Midway up at the halfway line is also good.

I've sat in every stand, though I've not made West Stand upper.

These tunnels are called vomitaries apparently.
