The temp one is usually pathetically small. How big was the shop you saw? I'd be very surprised if we were going to open a permanent shop, especially with the Oracle's rent. Would it really make enough money to warrant it?

It would be handy though for ticket sales away from the Madstad. Perhaps coaxing passers by in and trying to get new bums on seats.

Temporary til Christmas apparently. Don't know why they can't have a permanent shop in town.

Why assume it's going to be there? Normally the temp shop is in the Mall. To be fair, there's alot of empty shops in town. Perhaps fill in for La Tasca?

Didn't they try it once, up on the corner behind the Barclays Bank on the Buttermarket near Ninos? Think the issue there was that it was too out of the way to pick up passing trade.

Because the rent on a long-term deal costs more than the shop would bring in. Short-term lets are always cheaper as landlords want get some money in, and the bulk of the sales will be for Xmas only from it. The rest of the year, just about everyone who wants to buy Reading merchandise will be at the stadium or knows how to use t'interweb/mail order.

Thought I saw Wycombe had an outlet in Wycombe town centre a few months ago. Anyone up that way knows if I was seeing things  if I wasn't there must be some terrific shop rates over that way (perhaps Reading could open up there  )

I have seen the Wycombe one has been there years. You would think along with London Irish a permanent place in town would work?

I can see why the club don't have a permanent town centre shop. Every time I've been past it's always empty. Actually I lied. There was one customer in there today.
