Stadium Extension

Can we all assume this is off the agenda again now that Anton has decided we are worthless?

It will be on when it's worthwhile doing it and not before.

It wont ever be off the agenda. The planning permission will continue to be renewed until we decide to act on it. Any new owner will want that option in place for the future.

One worthwhile point to make though is that if we did go in for safe standing, that boosts capacity by 80%.

Only in the relatively small area of the ground it would be put in though.

Can't see them making the whole ground compulsory standing.

I can't see why RFC would ever install safe standing.

They're hardly the sort of club who really care about atmosphere (other than the family friendly one). They'd never rip up the pretty blue seats and have safe terracing/seats instead

Of course, but who's to say in time demand doesn't grow and the club then make it North and East stands, maybe even South too. The West will never become standing. Personally I think both North and East should have the top halves made safe standing, so both can accommodate both types of supporter.

They have shown an interest in it, but our problem is the concourses would need to be made bigger to accommodate a larger capacity. I read some time ago that they are at their limit as it is. It's unlikely we'll make them bigger without making the stand bigger at the same time.

Not that I doubt you, but when have they shown interest in it?

If they have that is really good. Obviously the stadium expansion is on, if we got promoted and became stable after 1-2 seasons up there... whenever that is.

It'll never be the whole ground. Far too many young children who are season ticket holders (including my two) and would not be able to see anything. I can see it happening in Y25 and Y26 but thats all.

The FSF roadshow came to us a couple of years ago and brought along the rail seats. We liked the idea, but we have a few problems. One being the rake of the stand, and the others being the concourses already being at their maximum capacity, and also emergency exits. But the initial interest was there.
