The big screen

by bobby1413 » 16 Apr 2014 07:16

Does anyone else think the club could use this to better effect during the match?

I don't mean highlights or anything as "fancy".

Other clubs show a list of the teams on the pitch with squad numbers. Goal scorers are marked, yellow/red cards too. It's especially good for if you don't know much about the opposition and can then see what player is in the number 6 shirt or whatever.

Our screen just sits there flashing "come on Reading" or showing live scores or just the RFC badge.

But I don't watch the screen during the game, I watch the pitch.

They could flash adverts up on it and make some more revenue or show cartoons for the young kids who seem to have no interest in being there other than to play on their parents ipads and eat hotdogs.

This, plus a timely effort to show the goals would be nice. We spent most of the first half trying to eork out who their nippy number 26 was on Monday and considering their silver lettering on grey shirts even if he had come and sat in the row in front of us we might have struggled

I remember BITD when Arsenal played at Highbury and they used to use their screen exactly as bobby describes here. Always used to look pretty 8) on MoTD

Just wish they would show all top 4 divisions HT scores and not just ours and the PL

It does seem rather shitty on the lower leagues from whence we came

If it was up to me we'd just have the alphabetical list of selected games that someone hangs the scores on at half time like in the olden days. As this would also boost programme sales it's a massive win for the club. I'm sure it will be top of the to do list for any new owner

The teams are shown during the match before the latest scores, although admittedly not info of who has score or been booked etc.

And I know it's sponsorship - but half the screen is covered up with the giant irritating V volume sign most of the time.

They do it at Fleetwood - which is actually Highbury too, funny enough

Re-sized for you, and that's exactly what I had in mind. Not distracting, but if you want to know what dirty bastaaard just caused pog to "fall over", you can check and later moan about him on here.

Just buy a programme. Only £3 and it helps the clubs finances.

I'm not wasting my money on that drivel. It's bad enough I have to buy a ST.

That's to the right of the screen. It doesn't cover the screen at all.
