Tax doesn't need to be taxing.....

by floyd__streete » 28 May 2014 12:46

So, Le Fondre first out of the door as the fire sale begins in earnest. All thanks to that huge f*ck up in selling to a new owner who has bailed on the club at the first sign of getting bored with it. Remember, Reading fans, most of you welcomed TSI with open arms and entirely without question and many of you of course ridiculed the few who pointed out the dubious history of certain component members of TSI. So in all honesty you probably deserve to watch a team of teenagers struggle next season.

My questions is though – if it was good enough for Pompey to defer tax bill after tax bill and eventually pay 10 pence in the £ or whatever it was.....why can’t we try and pull that stunt ourselves? They even got an FA Cup out of it.....

Presumably because Pompey were the exception to the rule, and most other people/clubs do actually abide by the general rule of paying taxes in order to keep trading

+1 Floyd

Have you heard that the latest news is that Samuelson and Obelensky are demanding they stay on the board when any new buyer takes over - hence they've put people off?

You couldn't make it up.

I think you wil find that only applies if the new buyer does not own all the club, so untill all debts are cleared with their boss man in Russia.

AZ and JM are not going to walk away with nothing.

They're not going to be walking away with very much at this rate, but what does that have to do with Obelensky and Samuelson wanting to stay on the board when it's sold? :|

Tweedle dum and Tweedle dee are supposed to be looking after the interests of the majority shareholders...... If their insistence on hanging on as consultants or whatever is for their own benefit as they want to feather their own nests then the shareholders should step in.

However, If the new owner doesn't pay back all the debt owed to TSI/Anton then you can understand why they would have an interest in keeping an eye on things, much like a bank if you were to borrow £26m from them.

To be fair, when TSI took over we were 8th in the Championship.

Now we have just finished 7th with a bad season, we got promoted and spent a season in England's top division and we have a shit hot academy churning out some fantastic talent. Whichever way you look at it, TSI have improved RFC.

So, you've embarrassed yourself there.

If you had a choice of a pretty dire year in the Prem and being relegated or staying in the championship with a viable football club to support - what would you have chosen?

You see, the funniest thing is 11 managers in eleven years (ok I'll give you Butch Wilkins and the return of the special one)...we'll just call it the nine.

Chelsea...eleven years Roman's trainset??? It obviously works for him, his subjects and "you" the fans.

Stop being so dramatic, we still have a viable club to support.

We're on the verge of a takeover, we have some of the cream of young British talent in our ranks and we had the joy of an incredible promotion campaign.

Relax

Of the 91 clubs we share the league with, aren't Portsmouth 91st on the list of the clubs whose recent financial history we should try to emulate?
Just to reiterate to help me get over my amazement, your post can actually be summarised as 'We should be more like Portsmouth' doesn't it?
Really.

Since Roman Abramovich acquired Chelsea FC in 2003 the club has won 11 trophies:

Europa League 2012/13, Champions League 2011/12, FA Cup 2011/12, FA Cup 2009/10, Premier League 2009/10, FA Cup 2008/09, FA Cup 2006/07, League Cup 2006/07, Premier League 2005/06, League Cup 2005/06, Premier League 2004/05 (it’s actually 13 trophies if you count the two Community Shields in 2004/05 and 2008/09,

Should have stuck with one manager as it obviously doesn't work...

Rough budget for that success ?

Transfer fees plus wages, plus signing on fees plus compensation.

Including players bought but never used ?

It's one way to win trophies I suppose. But why are Chelsea fans always so miserable ?

You need 75% of you creditors to agree a CVA

In Pompy's case I am guessing that the revenue was not 25% of the creditor pool so they were forced to tae what they could get

With a £31M debt and a £3M tax bill then again the revenue could not themselves reject the CVA. Would we play roulette with our other creditors
