League Cup R2 H vs Tykes - Tue 25th Aug 20:00h

by Four Of Clubs » 18 Aug 2009 11:19

Info on OS - sensibly enough no North Stand again - Tickets on General Sale now:

http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~1758375,00.html

... don't have them as ST 'pre-reserved' though - yet I'm sure the Burton one's were - or am I just being impatient? :?

... and the Northern end of the Upper West, where I sat for 1st Rnd, doesn't appear on the Seating Plan :?:

... think I'll wait 'n see......

If my experience is anything to go by then it doesn't matter where you book your seat for the Upper West. For the Burton game I booked it in the southern section, but was sent a paper ticket for the northern section (even though I'm a STH).

Just book it boyo! It's not as though we'll sell out is it?

I phoned the TO this morning to buy a ticket in Upper West (North) but was told that it is not going to be open for this gameso had to settle for Southern section. Seats were unreserved for Burton game as well and ST holders had to have a paper ticket.

... thanks - what I tried to infer (and failed!) was that the Seating Plan had the northern end of the Upper West as blank/'un-bookable' - only GU 2,3,4 & 5 are available -
- I thought (following the standard HNA rule of 2+2 = 5 - or more? ) that might mean they weren't actually opening that half of the Upper West stand.

Hope I'm wrong - I like sitting up there - feels closer to where I should be [ST in the back-row North] .

For the Burton game I can't remember which seats I chose - since it was also 'Unreserved Seating' I'm not sure I paid any attention - looking at my ticket - no idea why it isn't in the bin  - I was allocated a seat somewhere up in GU8.

... whoops - posts crossed .... shame - as I said I thought that was the case that they'd only open part of the Stand. May try over in the East then his time.

As I said before they have decided not to open UW(North) unless they sell out the other parts of that stand.

Edit:-Sorry crossed again

... any other ST holders NOT received their paper tickets in the post yet?

I'm assuming this is the method used for us North Standers who are setting up temporary home in the West - like it was for the Burton game - I also heard a rumour the Posties might go on strike/go slow this week - can't say I've noticed yet?

... Is also a bit odd, that when I buy away tickets on-line for my mate, using the 'Friends & Family' bit with his ST details, paper Tickets get sent to me.

..... Yet when I buy Home Cup Games, any paper tickets required have in the past been sent to His address :? ??

S'pose if nowt turns up at his house today or tomorrow, I'll have to queue @ TO pre-match with my proof of purchase e-mail...... :|

... possible consequence of Tickets going on sale quite late - i.e. not until last Tuesday wasn't it?

I havn't received a paper ticket yet even though I bought on 18th. I am assuming that this time they have put it on my ST card. Just wish they would be consistent.

Indeed - and I couldn't really be @rsed which way round they do it - Paper ticket in the post or 'loaded' BUT I do wish they'd say one thing and then try and stick to it.

I'm certain for home CUP games, they've announced, possibly on the confirmation e-mail, that the game has been added to our ST cards only for Tickets to turn up in the post! :?:

Now I'm not sure if I should be worried or not............. :?

Conversely, I had assumed it would be Paper again 'cos they aren't using the North Stand and the Stadium Ticketing s/w might cope better that way, as opposed to having to load a seat number for the West onto a North Stand card?

Spose if I am REALLY that bovvered I'd eventually call/PM the TO....

My ST is in the northern end of the Upper West (gate3)but for this game I had to settle for the southern end (gate2) so I expected a paper ticket. Having said that my ST didnt work in the gate 3 turnstile on Saturday and I wonder whether this is anything to do with it. I recall that last season when they had unreserved seating for the CC they put it on my ST card but for the Burton game this year they sent a ticket. It will be interesting to see whether my card works at gate 2 tomorrow.

quite a fair few fans in the east stand found their season tickets being rejected on Saturday, with many missing the kick-off as a result.

A woman dealing with the queue of increasingly angry people even had the nerve to blame us for not turning up earlier.

Crowd of just 4,500 expected tomorrow from my source.

This could be the smallest attendance outside the LDV Vans trophy games we had at the Madejski!

Thanks for the update - fingers crossed we'll have no probs with the Readers - don't want to have to trapse back round to queue up at the TO.

As was mentioned above by NS Royal - its consistency (or lack of) that tends to grate slightly - similar example: - end of season 'local' Cup finals - first one I went to (Wokkers vs Woodley) only had middle sections of South Stand open - fine no problems - had called first to check and sat where I liked.
Following week (Woodley vs S'hurst Devels) - didn't bother phoning - the signs were still up directing people to East Stand but the club had switched everyone over to the Lower West and crammed the (albeit fairly small) crowd into a much smaller space. (sigh!)
