By the way, glad gerrard is not in contention. Don't want any unneccesary distractions from club football which is far more important.

soggy biscuit Surprised that Terry got it after it was proven that he struggles to handle the big occasion.

No chances of that being a probem with England

Kes
11.30 from paddington The first thing Terry can do, is sit his prima donna teammates down in front ot the telly, watch the Olympics, and witness the talent, skill and dedication, we expect from those overpaid underachievers.

Oh - and he also needs to grow a pair, because I'm sick of seeing a centre back (let alone a captain) blub everytime he and his team lose, after playing abysmally.

Thanks for proving my point. That illustrates the p!ss-poor example, cry-baby Terry has set to the youth of this country.

Dirk Gently I have been told that over the past six months or so (in fact since it became known that the England captaincy was up for grabs) JT's on-field behaviour has been way way better than it ever was, so in this case I'm going to defend him. He does seem to have turned over a new leaf since the infamous "card-grabbing" incident at the end of last year.

Does it really matter who is captain?
What does an England captain do apart from toss a coin and come out first on the pitch?
Why is it that in this country we attach so much importance to the captaincy in a team game where captaincy is unimportant?
For some reason do you have to be a Londoner nowadays, preferably semi-literate?

I was told this on 9th May, a week or so before before the European Cup Final.

Everyone I know who has had the 'pleasure' of spending a prelonged period of time with John Terry has said the same thing to me, generally using words such as:-

'Horrible', 'nasty', 'racist', 'thug', 'c@nt' etc etc

This includes the ex-marketing director of the FA, ex-commercial director of Arsenal, and a number of agents, sports marketers and others who work in the industry.

Doesn't strike me as an ideal England captain

The people I spoke to like Fabio Capello, Brain Barwick, Trevor Brooking, Stuart Pearce all said what a great leader and person John Terry is.

They used words like: Honest, hard working, passionate.

Which are mainly behavioural characteristics, none of which necessary conflict with the some of the attitudinal traits I highlighted.

The other main difference being of course...

Most of those people are tossers anyway, so I don't care what they say about John Terry. Especially anyone who is or was connected with Arsenal.

Presumably you boo James Harper, and have booed Steve Sidwell and Matthew Upson? And you must be terrified at the prospect of a loan for Gibbs.
