Inevitable once Curbishley very publically turned them down!

I hope he turns Charlton round but I think they are doomed.

3 points from 8 games says they can't afford or get anybody else.

What's amazing is that their season has gone so wrong for them. Certainly a team who i did not think would be flirting with relegation so early in the season.
Tough call to pull themselves back out of the mire.

they do have some good players IMHO and its gonig to be upto Parky to get the best out these guys. I think they will stay up and maybe in the summer
Parky will have some money to strengthen.

Parky is a first class guy and deserves all the success that comes is way.My daughter and I met him in Tescos a few years ago he spent lots of time chatting to her and he let her hold his little baby, not many footballers would do that. One dayI would like to think he would be good enough to manager our club.

I think anyone who lets someone hold their baby in Tescos should one dayl (sic, Spacey mode) be allowed to manager (sic, Spacey mode) our club.

I can see it now...

Parky has a contract until the end of the season.
Coppell takes his 'break' if we don't go back up at the end of the season.
Parky is named Reading manager.

Good luck to him. They look a tougher side since he took over.
Unfortunately he's in charge of a seriously cash-strapped club. What wouldn't he do for a striker like Chris Iwelumo now.

Deathy Parky is named Reading manager.

Why on earth do so many people seem to want this? Parky was a super player for us, but he hasn't exactly shone as a manager.

Indeed. Let's hope for Parky that Charlton can afford to bring in Geraint Williams as his assistant.

My money's on Hoddle.

Much prefer Hoddle to Parky as our next manager. Hoddle's a bit unfairly maligned; he's got a cracking coaching reputation and was pretty tactically spot-on with England. Other than a few issues with his man-management and his record at Wolves, I can't think of many more suitable/realistic contenders should Coppell call it a day at the end of this season.

Hoddle's off doing his thing in Spain.

As for Parky, very tough job to keep Charlton up. Not sure how it's gone so wrong for them, they've got some decent players, I thought they would be up and around the play offs to be honest.

Personally I'd love us to have a manager who has a real affintity to the club and the fans and isn't just here because it's the club willing to pay him the most or give him the best chance of progressing to another club.

Obvioulsy 99% of players, managers and other members of staff are in it for the money and it's their profession but knowing that the man at the top has some feeling and history with the club helps to maintain the right atmospher and culture at the club.

That manager has to be good enough though, but at least Parky looks to have the same thoughts on how to run things as Pardew and to a lesser extent Coppell.

It's the continuity and feel for the clubs culture and history that means an ex-player, and sepcifically one that was here for so long and was so well regarded, is always going to be suggested as a potential manager.

That and even less loyal than Pardew.

Don't want that sort back at our club thankyouverymuch,

The locals are not 'appy with this appointment at all. His attachments to Pardew being the obvious problem but also the fact that his temporary appointment didn't exactly set the world alight. There are clearly some much bigger problems at the club with failed takeovers and the like and as mentioned other than Colchester, his management record is not good. They look doomed....but they'll probably do the double on us.

4 frikin' 2.
