BBC Sport (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 348697.stm) Former Reading first-team coach Kevin Dillon looks set to become the new Aldershot Town manager. The 49-year-old former Birmingham City, Portsmouth, Newcastle United and Reading player is expected to replace Gary Waddock who left in October. Dillon worked under Alan Pardew and Steve Coppell at Reading until Coppell's departure in the summer.
The League Two club have announced they will hold a news conference to reveal the new manager at 1130 GMT on Monday. Aldershot acting chairman John Leppard is refusing to confirm the new candidate until the official announcement. He told BBC Surrey: "We saw about nine candidates, all of good quality, and we've come out with our decision. "We'd made an offer to this chap and we're still going through the bits and pieces with his lawyers, and we're hoping to make an announcement on Monday. "I came into this role [chairman] on Tuesday and its something we had to sort out quickly. "The applications have been coming in for a couple of weeks, and we got on and did that, and we're hoping to make a successful appointment."
Good for Kev. I'm really pleased for him and I hope he does well. Here's to him taking the little Shots up to League 1 and maybe returning to manage us in a few years.
