Former Lincoln City manager and player Phil Stant has recently published his autobiography. Unlike most footballers Phil's time in professional football came after a career in the military.
In the army in the early 1980's Phil served in the Falklands war. Taken to the South Atlantic aboard the QE2 Phil was in San Carlos Bay when the Sir Gallahad was attacked by Argentine aircraft. In his his book Phil talks candidly about his time in the forces and the South Atlantic.
After leaving the army Phil became a professional footballer playing for amongst others Notts County, Reading, Fulham, Brighton and Lincoln City. Popular with Imps fans Phil recounts tales of manager John Beck, promotion with City and eventually becoming manager himself; a job he was eventually sacked from.
