Wind of change

by soggy biscuit » 27 Nov 2009 08:42

A whiff of injustice on the football fields of Portsmouth, where Levi Foster was booked for breaking wind in the face of the referee while his studs were being checked before kick-off in the match between GOP and Apsley House. The official, Bunny Reid, wanted to give him a red card, before a heated debate saw the punishment reduced to yellow.

I hear the ref was hopping mad.

Someoen I know involved with the FA was talking about a disciplinary case they had a few months ago.

It was junior football, and one of the substitutes was running the line, and the ref looked over to him for an off-side and he wasnt there, just the flag was lying on the ground. He was crouched behind a tree having a dump, and when he came back the ref sent him off for leaving his post like that.

More likely sent off for having a dump. Sent off a goalkeeper once for having a wee against the goalpost whilst play was up the other end for a corner.

Definately true, the referee who booked him is the most unpopular ref in Sunday league football round here.

That is some superb player ratings at the bottom of that match report!

Victor Agamasu was first shown a yellow card for abusive language.

But when he gave his name to go into the book, Reid thought he was making it up and dished out a second booking – much to the dismay of both teams who drink with each other after games.

A bemused Agamasu said: 'He gave me a yellow and then when I gave him my name, he looked at my funny and said: "Come on, your name". I told him it again and then out came the red.'
