World Club Cup

by Tony Le Mesmer » 16 Dec 2010 13:32

Always thought this was a bit of joke competition, but currently taking place in Abu Dhabi.

Mazembe Englebert cause from Congo a massive upset beating Brazil's Internacional 2-0 to reach the final. I was kind of looking forward to an Internacional v Internazionale final.

It kind of shows the status of this game in the UK that it took the postponement on Liverpool v Fulham to get this match on tv, with ESPN showing it as a last minute replacement.

Inter 2-0 up after 17 minutes.

The TP Mazembe keeper seems to have an alarming facial tick, and Eto'o celebrated his goal by dancing round with what looked like two carrier bags full of duty free shopping in his hands.

Yeah they gave it to us here too in lieu of whatever the tea-time KO was supposed to be

Can't believe I'm watching it instead of the one from Spain on the other channel (and in fact I'll be switching over now)

Ended 3-0. Eto'o won the "Golden Key" for being player of the tournament, which actually was a giant golden key, about a metre long. Probably the largest and most tacky football trophy in existence.

A ridiculously fat beardy bloke handing out the medals. The podium must be in danger of collapse.
