David Bad Willy

A DUNDEE United footballer has been charged with raping a woman at a party, police confirmed last night.

Striker David Goodwillie is accused of sexually assaulting the 24-year-old at a flat at Armadale in West Lothian on January 2.

The attack is alleged to have happened just hours after the 21-year-old scored an injury-time equaliser in United’s New Year’s Day clash with Aberdeen.

Wasn't this the man supposed to be replacing Kenny Miller at Rangers?

In the "football" scheme of things rape is about as worrying as a parking fine. If he's good enough he'll play.

Zammo 1944: ROSS COUNTY v DUNDEE UTD
Ross County: McGovern, Marr, Morrison, Boyd, Flynn, Kettlewell, Brittain, Corcoran, Scott, Craig, Barrowman. Subs: Malin, Miller, Vigurs, Wood, Di Giacomo.
Dundee Utd: Banks, Dillon, Dixon, Kenneth, Watson, Daly, David Robertson, Gomis, Buaben, Goodwillie, Russell. Subs: Mentel, Conway, Scott Robertson, Cadamarteri, Douglas.
Referee: W Collum

From The Daily Record:

David Goodwillie started for United after a statement from the club gave him their moral support pending the outcome of police charges against the player.

He was booed every time he touched the ball but showed sustained nerve under pressure and sealed United's win with the final kick of the night.

Goodwillie was involved in a flashpoint after half an hour when he attempted an overhead kick off a corner but made direct contact with Jason Marr's head.

The defender slumped to the ground and players on both sides squared up.

Referee Willie Collum, a magnet for controversy of late, restored order without cautioning anyone.

Brave move by the club, but it paif off in a purely footballing perspective

In the sense that most football fans are too thick to realise the fact that he hasn't been convicted yet, and will latch onto any perceived weakness and give him no end of stick. Fellow players are also in the same bracket for level of intelligence. Therefore the club were brave in the respect that they were prepared to incur the wrath of said fans and fellow players, and the player himself was also brave for standing up to it.

Looks great for the club/player if found innocent. If guilty they look like Coventry.
