Weekend Football 10/11 December

by Ian Royal » 10 Dec 2011 23:24

How is it possible for someone to play for a team at the top of the second tier of English football and yet be utterly incompetent? Biakowski or however you spell his name, simply had to be on the take, surely no keeper is that useless?

Super goal by Van Persie for Arsenal, but why are the BBC creaming their pants about goals in a calendar year? Seriously, who gives a shit about that!

Makes him pretty much the league's form striker, that's all.

Don't know what to think about Blackburn in that one. Denied a good goal for 2-0, and defended very well only to be undone by 2 great efforts.

On the flip side, I have no sympathy for sides who play so negatively for an entire second half. Possibly understandable if there is a big gulf in class; but they were playing a side 1 point ahead of them in the league. Invited pressure and paid the cost.

TBH a one off I could write off. But he flapped at easy shots at least three times, spilling them all badly.

Such a dive by Modric. Commentators saying ref had no choice. Yep he had the choice to
him for diving. Yes he stuck his leg out but he jumped over it, took a step and then fell over, embarrassing.

He clearly took a second to think whether or not to go to ground..

The ref has also been terrible the past ten minutes. An elbow off the line and a perfectly fine goal disallowed..

Evidently IR has not seen the Own Goal's and Gaffs DVD. Massimo Taibi has his own section on how poorly he played.

Hopefully people will stop these nonsense comments about tottenham winning the league.

Yes they play some good stuff but do not have the strength in depth or consistency to be consistent top four.. never mind win it.

What was the Southampton keeper doing for the 2nd goal? Trying to chest it whilst the ball was moving at 100mph

He managed 3 of those in the same match with the one for the goal slipping underneath him. Looked a terrified mess every time he had something to do.

And so he might, they were unbeaten in 11, most of them wins too, playing great football, scoring a lot of goals, why not get the supporters dreaming? I find the pleasure at seeing Spurs falter bizarre given we would surely rather a ‘smaller’ club got a look-in at the top of the table?

City not buying the PL title this season would be brilliant, can’t see them failing though.

Also a feature in The Grauniad on Saturday bigging up their chances of winning the PL.

It seems a lot of Tottenham fans took out their frustration of losing to Stoke by abusing Chris Hoy on twitter yesterday
