I see there's Scottish Prem games taking place next Saturday while there's no football on in England.

Last time Reading played on Christmas Eve was in 1955. A 4-1 home win against Millwall (Kirkup 3, Hinshelwood) watched by 5597.

Last Christmas Day game was at Bournemouth in 1957 (att: 11162). We lost 4-1 with Jimmy Wheeler scoring. As was the tradition for many years, there was the reverse fixture the following day and Reading won 2-0 with goals by Jimmy Wheeler and Douggie Webb in front of 13339.

Sussex County have/had a few games scheduled and of course there's the thrill a minute potential more locally, of the Combination Division of the Hants Premier League

...that's if anyone fancies for example the big dust-up probable between Liss Athletic (Reserves) and Liphook United (Reserves)

I think the last time we played two days in a row over Christmas was in 1987, where we played Birmingham at Elm Park on Boxing Day, before going to Brighton the day after. I only really remember that because the Brighton game was my first ever away game.

in the 1920s Reading played away at Bradford on Xmas Day and home to them on Boxing Day  Harsh fixturing indeed.

Still, I expect trains ran over Xmas in them days.
