I've no idea who the individuals fronting the safe standing campaign are, but I'd have thought it prudent to have it promoted by people who'd look "normal" in the eyes of those who matter, rather than some pwoper nawty lads who'd just comfirm their worst fears.
TBH, the objections to safe-standing from football authorities and clubs have long since moved away from being safety-related. The vast majority of the objections raised are public-order related.
...yet if terraces were brought back, and put at the opposite end of the ground from the away fans, there'd probably be less trouble inside grounds than now. If the North stand, for example, was made into a terrace, would fans really prefer to sit in Y25/Y26 just so they could be nearer the away fans?
If they moved there'd be far fewer incidents in the corner between home and away fans.
