DOYLERSAROYALER Fordham reporting on twitter that spurs are to pay Gylfi £70k a week..almost double to that offered by Liverpool....??

That's their wage cap. Not likely.

That's the same figure I read in a couple of other places. Think Bale's salary on his new deal just went up to £85k a week so possible if that's the new cap threshold.

You really think they are offering more than Parker/Van Der Vaart/Modric/Defoe are on?

He's likely to score more goals than any of the aforementioned players given a decent run in the side....... On that basis he should be paid more......

Friday's Legacy
maffff"[quote="maffff We have offered a higher weekly salary than Liverpool.

maffff is absolutely bang on. I just can't see past a move to Liverpool, but we are very much in there with a chance. AZ has ambitions for this club that we could never have envisaged. It's all very surreal. The pessimist in me can't see him opting for us over Liverpool, but at least we're trying.

So did we offer or not?

Well if it happens (Spurs, 'Pool or somehow Reading) it's gonna be tomorrow (Friday) apparently.

If it is purely for the money he'll pick Spurs.
If for his favourite manager but also bench warming he'll choose Liverpool.
If it is for re-joining his mates and a manager he likes and to play every game he will choose us.

if only it was that easy of a decision. it would make a lot of sense for him to join us for a year or two to prove his worth for the premier league instead of half a season on loan. he did well on his loan spell but then again he was playing to sign for swansea in the future and leave hoffenheim, who knows if he can truly cut it in the premier league. (i personally believe 1000% that he will be able to cut it and will be a superstar dont get me wrong, but some people do believe he isnt good enough). however, if he spent another season with us where we would build the team around him and he could lead us to a mid-table finish starting every game in the future he could prove to man united that he can do it. otherwise, he could sign for liverpool and tottenham and they suffer while he was there he could drop off the map and end up warming the bench. also both teams have appointed brand new managers who the hell knows if theyll make it to christmas. reading would be the smart choice but i highly doubt he will come here, i really wish he would come home though!

I'm baffled that he's taking this long to decide actually. I really want to be all hopeful he's on his way here, but as someone who hates all these transfer speculations because it's just never as good as this, I'm also wondering what's there to think over? He was delaying when liverpool and swansea were the only two in for him, which makes it seem he wanted to go to neither. So when spurs came in I figured this to be a done deal. He's at least cutting it awful close to the deadline hoffenheim set him and they've even been more than generous since the only for sure thing is he doesn't wanna go back there. Or does he? Things have changed there too with the new manager, nobody seems to be discussing that..

The thing may not be about whether he hasn't made a decision yet, it may be about whether his decision can be publicised yet. If Spurs have signed him they may not want to make the decision public until they can reveal who their new manager is, especially if they have the obligatory cheesy photos of him posing with manager and shirt.

I think we 'enquired' for Gylfi at most. McDermott's quotes are not that of a man who has offered an amazing signing/wages package and is waiting to hear back.

Of course we did. There are sources that say so. It's just there will never be any public confirmation of it. In fact the club may even deny it. But those ITK know that it happened. For sure.

I really hope we made a good effort to get him.

My first post so I know I have zero credibility but this should help for next time.

Gylfi has signed a contract which will be announced today.
