Well I was just trying to say that seeing people in Islamic dress isn't as sensational or as 'ground breaking' as the writer implies, and that spotting that girl on TV at a Bradford game isn't really heralding some sort of new dawn of righteous football multiculturalism. I can see guys like this almost going out of their way spotting Asian faces in crowds, or pausing the TV like in the above photo, just to write this kinds of patronising articles. I honestly don’t believe he goes to many games, at least not in urban environs because if he did he’d realise it’s not that rare. As I say local Asians are often at Wembley these days and fair enough to them. I'd like to think they could continue to go as well, without either this idiot journalist jumping up and down and pointing, or on the other side of the coin people like the above poster making some sort of bigoted point about it.

What the hell is so fantastic about some woman wearing a hijab? Surely it would have been a lot better if the bitch was liberated enough to remove her oxf*rd obscenely oppressive instrument of religious totalitarianism before she went to the game?

Maybe the author would find it thoroughly spunkworthy if all women started wearing the hijab?

Why is this foreign "culture", based on religious oppression and totalitarianism, seen as some sort of higher form of enriching culture, while our own culture is frowned upon?

If you could see beyond your level of prejudice that would worry Daily Mail readers for a moment, you might actually see that he's not expressing any pleasure at all that the woman is wearing the thing.

He's saying that it's a good sign that you have a muslim woman who feels comfortable in what's often caricatured as a male-dominated white-only society.

I guess you'd rather that "coloureds" stayed away from football though.
