Welsh FA "cheat" again!

by Rax » 23 Apr 2013 23:26

Quelle Surprise....... hours before an important play off game!

Wrexham centre-half David Artell was not expected to play, after being sent off for a high challenge in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Champions Mansfield.

But, having been sent off by an English referee, in an English league game, the decision was overturned by the Football Association of Wales on Tuesday afternoon, just hours before the game.

FAW = Zero Integrity

All worked out fine though because Artell scored Wrexham's first in their 2-1 first leg win at the Racecourse last night.

I will be at the Bernabay on Saturday to watch Colwyn Bay pull off the great escape in Blue Square North. They have won 5 games in 10 days to go from 10 points adrift to only avoiding defeat at home to Gloucester City to stay up.

Exciting times for Welsh football.

The interesting thing about this is that the FAW did not overturn the red card, but instead decided that it was in itself an adequate punishment for the offence. I wasn't aware that "sending off sufficient" was a rule that existed in football (although I have always thought it should be an option).

As far as I know in this case, the red card occurred right at the end of the game, so instead of an expected ban of three and a bit matches, he has got away with just a few minutes, and those in a game of no significance.

Anomalies such as this are a joke. If Wrexham insist on participating in the the English leagues then the FAW should have absolutely zero jurisdiction over them. Sames goes for all Welsh clubs participating in English leagues and vice versa.

Do they still get involved with Swansea now they are in the Premier League?

+1 If they want to play in England they should abide by the English FA laws and rules, I can't believe we let them get away with it.

No, when Swansea got promoted the Premier League made it clear that FAW jurisdiction was at an end on this type of topic. No doubt the same for Cardiff next season, who have always been the major beneficiaries of this particular cheating.

Waxers was it you that used to live in Colwyn Bay? I remember chatting to someone on here a while back who had and discussing the current rise of the Seagulls. Frank Sinclair is Player Manager these days. Should be a bit of a party on Saturday!
