The Real Sandhurst Royal Farnbourgh Town and Aldershot are both in administration.

A merger between both clubs make sense to me although the fans of both clubs would not like it.

What would they call it?

Farnshot or Alderborough?

Would anybody go? You'd have alienated the core support of both clubs, so you'd have to hope you could attract a whole new set of supporters.

Farnborough again as well? What is it about clubs that continually manage to do this (or attract owners who manage it)?

Personally I think that 3 visits to administration in 10 years should mean automatic liquidation.

A popular podcast that I listen to sums it up pretty well.

Portsmouth, FA cup winners 5 years ago and finalists three years ago, will be playing away to Newport next season I guess it shows how much financial mismanagement can change football completely.

It worked for Dagenham and Redbridge why not Aldershot and Farnbourgh as something has to happen in football in the lower legaues as too many clubs continue to struggle with their finances?

From the BBC web site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22473052

Six parties express and interest in Farnbourgh Town.

frimmers3 are you really as trite and mean minded as you appear?

No - I'm merely bored with your tedious and pointless arguments over an assertion that is completely and utterly irrelevant.

Aldershot are Aldershot. The same pointless nobodies go to the Rec' and sing their silly songs about Reading. Nothing has intrinsically changed.

you mean a fact bothers you to distraction? and it was not i that raised the subject.

But you continue to be in denial.

Because it makes the FAC draw sound unwieldy.

Yeah. Imagine this:

Walton & Hersham or Hayes & Yeading vs Dagenham & Redbridge or Aldershot & Farnborough

:o

Even more difficulty when you have a speech impediment like Graham Kelly did/does. He really could not say the word 'February'.....'Febrewwewy', he's mutter. Not that any of those clubs mentioned above would ever been involved in the 5th round draw. Nor would it ever be made by Graham Kelly any more. Yeah, so erm.....whats your problem then Baines :?:

What about a SW London/Surrey merger between Hampton & Richmond & Walton & Hersham. Head fuuuuuuuuuuu.ck :!: :!:

This all reminds me of our Year 9 english teacher, Mr Naghten. A camp, balding man he posed the question to us ‘when would it ever be gramatically practical and correct to use the word ‘And’ five times in succession in a single sentence?’. We scratched our heads until he came up with a scenario of a sign painter being told by a pub landlord that he hadn’t left enough room between the words on the sign and needed to leave a bigger gap between ‘Waggon’ and ‘and’ and ‘and’ and Horses. I always think of Mr Naghten every time I walk past – or indeed, into – the Waggon & Horses, Twyford which is more sparingly these days as I have moved away from the area.

It didn't. A series of owners just went round merging and asset-stripping a number of East London non-league clubs, doing little to increase the fan-base.

something has to happen in football in the lower legaues as too many clubs continue to struggle with their finances?

too many in all leagues struggle with their finances. Should league clubs merge too?

The problem isn't a lack of money coming in or a lack of fans to share round, it's a lack of control over money going out.
