Palace leave out two signings from squad list

by NewCorkSeth » 05 Sep 2013 17:04

Did anyone else see this? Palace decided to omit Dobbie and Marange from their squad list. Wages well spent.

Can only register 25 and those two will be shipped out on loan next week

I understand that completely but why sign a 27 year old defender on a one year contract just to send out on loan? Dobbie (30) was given the number 11 and a two year contract. The whole thing stinks of poor planning.. They were panic signed early on and now that they have signed better players they have become surplus to requirements

Yeah, it's the kind of thing you'd do on Football Manager.

Marange was a free transfer and if the club they loan him too pays 100% of his wages then Palace haven't lost out. He probably wasn't as good as they thought he would be in the Premiership - as for Dobbie, if he does well wherever he goes Palace can still get a fee for him next season

Stop polishing this turd.. The best scenario for Marange as you describe it is the same as if they didnt sign him.. not being as good as they thought he was going to be is a terrible and unprofessional excuse 3 games in.. The fact he was given only a 1 year contract suggests to me they wanted him for back-up then signed better back up (Mariappa) they already had Parr and Moxey. The whole thing is just bad business!

Bad business for who?

He wasn't back up though, he's played 2 games so far this season

For the club If we signed 16 players this summer then left 2 (one 27 and one 30) of them out I would be confused as to why we signed them in the first place! And those might be the only 2 games he plays for the club.. In the grand scheme of things I would call that back up, but now they can't even be used as back up so what is the point in them?

Poor Dobbie!

Just can’t get a run in the Premier League, promoted twice through the play-offs and then shipped out, and then Palace sign him having won the play-offs, and he isn’t registered.

Owen Garvan, who was also left out by Holloway, tweeted 'I'll be here longer than he will... Trust me'

I also heard at the weekend that Palace are looking to get rid and want to bring Pardew in to the club

Any proof he was talking about Holloway though?

Reading could do worse than Dobbie on loan esp. given his play off record. And let's face it, despite our talking big that's about the limit of what we'd be willing to pay :o
