150 years ago today, a group of men met at The Freemasons' Tavern in London and founded the Football Association. The game was formally codified and went on to prove fairly popular around the world.

The site of the former Freemasons' Tavern is now the Connaught Rooms, a Masonic dining venue on Great Queen Street.
I was lucky enough to go to a couple of the commiserative matches at Wembley including against Brazil and Scotland. I also have a special FA 150 Oyster travel card wallet.
Special stamps issued earlier in the year:

This year also marks 150 years of the London Underground. It was all happening 150 years ago.
