Just read Gareth Crooks review of the 2014 - 15 season [urlhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32864685][/url] stating it was a fantastic season in the Premiership, and wonder if I was watching the same season in which:
- Chelsea were not challenged for the title and really took the title by avoiding the poor performances and results other teams had, even Crooks selected six Chelsea players for his best team, showing Chelsea domination
- final day excitement was the possibility that Hull might jump over Newcastle and stay up,
- the top four were the four, wealthy, predicted at the season start
- three promoted clubs showed the gap between the divisions is growing bigger and why the promoted teams will be first inked in for the drop, just Leicester escaping as Hull and Newcastle stopped playing,
- "top" players earnings not reflecting entertainment value they deliver, particularly the United big players etc.
- "English" clubs knocked out of Champions League early
- Premiership non-English participation continues to grow at Manager and player levels
- BBC coverage continues to give more time to build-up and after match review than actual playing time, Gary Lineker's wooden chats etc.
- FIFA leadership - best ask no questions
A cancelled Sky Sports subscription was not regretted.
Pluses were:
- goal line technology coming in, particularly as otherwise Reading would not have had a goal of the season.
- hope of young English players coming through, particularly Kane
