Kante

by Victor Meldrew » 05 Feb 2017 18:00

Watching yet another poor performance from Leicester this afternoon and watching the player as man of the match yesterday for Chelsea I can't think of a player being more badly missed by one team and make such a big impact with another in the space of two seasons in English football.
His old club is going from champions to possibly being relegated whereas his new club has gone from upper mid table to champions.
There have been players who make a big impact like Sanchez at Arsenal for example but his previous club hardly missed him as is the case with Costa,Toure or De Gea .
People often say that a player is as good as having 2 players but in his case it actually seems true.
Can anybody think of anybody else?

Kante has been excellent two seasons on the trot but his impact on Chelsea is easily over-estimated as they had a manager who had totally lost the players last season.

My favourite recent stat is that Kante has made more tackles + interceptions in the Premier League in the last two seasons combined, than any other player in the last three seasons combined.

I saw Piers Morgan moaning yesterday that Arsenal spent £35m on Xhaka in the summer and Chelsea got Kante for £32m.

Huge game at the weekend, Swansea vs Leicester. If they lose that then it's a very real possibility.

It's a very real possibility even if they win

From what I've seen of Kante this season he has been immense for Chelsea

Serves them right for those stupid clapper things they insist on using every home game

Looking at the teams in the bottom and they're all putting up a really good fight. Sunderland for example, and Hull. As you basically said Genome, this is a very very real possibility and they're in the middle of a relegation battle.

I read Twatter after their game and read 20+ tweets from Leicester fans wanting Ranieri sacked. I was also pretty surprised to hear boos at the end of the game.

I know they're disappointed by their season so far but it just seems wrong. I also heard that players this year have gone to the chairman to say they're not happy with Ranieri in charge or have doubts. Again that is fcking appalling if true, for two reasons:

1) Players are paid to play. That's why I hate the whole thing about players not happy about not being picked or refusing to play. It's disgusting
2) It's disrespectful to a man who I believe is a true gent and seems to be a nice man and after last seasons achievements he deserves better

He is going to become the first player to win back to back Premier League titles for 2 different clubs right?

Wow.
That rather trumps RR's assertion.
