No Fixed Abode @Soggybiscuit. Afraid not. Wasn't at the game.

Soz about that.

How was St Andrews?

How was Millwall?

Good day out thanks m8! (apart from some nobs in front of me trying to start chants and repeatedly failing - 'baldie touches kids' being the worst one)

Beers at London Bridge on the way there and back though did manage to get lost in my usual yokel way

TheMaraudingDog I moved down to Wokkers aged 12

LOL. So you're the very cliche of the 'Man Utd' fan from Wokingham, then.

I doubt many people in the Stretford End would actually give you the time of day, mate.

Only Reading for me. My support goes way back to 2006. I thought once Reading were relegated I might keep an eye on Fullham, since they had some Americans, or Wolves later on when the brought in Marcus, Doyle and Hunt. But I have no interest. I don't even watch any Prem games or Champions league games. But I love to listen to Tim Dellor and Mr. Gooding tell me all about the Reading most Saturday mornings. :-)

As a kid, I was a mad keen Chelsea fan. Used to go up to Stamford Bridge fairly regularly but, living in Reading, it was always easy to go and watch RFC week in, week out so, if asked, I would have said that I supported Chelsea but followed Reading. At that point, had RFC and Chelsea met, I'd've supported Chelsea without a seconds hesitation (I can even remember going to an RFC Vs CFC reserve game at Elm Park in my Chelsea shirt, etc... RFC won 2 -1).

This state of affairs reversed itself when my family shifted to NZ. Maybe it was "ties to home", but RFC became more important, CFC less so (Reading supporter, Chelsea follower). Parted ways with Chelsea before Abramovic took over and really couldn't give a shit about them any more (Unless they are playing Man U. I support ANYONE that is playing Man U)

Having lived in various different countries I've supported the local team with no issue. I support Schalke in Germany, Wellington Phoenix in the Aussie league and Changchun Yatai in the Chinese Superleague but, should they ever meet RFC, I know who I will be cheering for

So if you HAVE to support the team closest to where you were born/grew up, does that mean i have to be a Reading Town fan?

The idea of supporting the team most local to where you were born is a noble one, but a complete non-starter as far as this thread is concerned. This is about one team and one team only from the moment you were a glimmer in your parents' eyes - if that team happens to be 200 miles from where you were born, so be it - but stick with it, don't change and don't support other teams as well/instead of - isn't that what this discussion is suppsoedly about?

exactly

typical yokel opinion that you HAVE to support the side closest to you.......when being a plastic is actually when you chop and change (at a stage where you should know best)

Your have until the age of 25 to establish who your local team is (home town, place you grew up, place you buggered off to the minute you could escape the parents, place you ended up living in because that's where your crappy job is) and then you have to stick with it.

If you ain't lived there, you can't support them. If you do, it's a police matter.
