Yep - Mick McCarthy is dry and self-effacing. Holloway is just a pantomime idiot -playing up to his image of saying wild and wacky soundbites.

See Spizz, I read his mind!!

But yes, they have entertained and fair play to him for that.

Pitch invasion and champaigne celebrations in the dressing room by Wolves players having lost the match at home and after showing that after a whole season someone else managed to be even shitter than them by letting in a goal in the last minute. and that after their 2nd season up there and having spent more money than those around them too.

You would be forgiven for thinking they were Blackpool having survived the drop on a budget. What a total mickey mouse club.

They would still have gone down had Spurs not scored a late winner - on goals scored.

I get that and that they were happy at surviving but the way they went about it you would have thought they had won the FA Cup. You could understand it if Blackpool had got a result and reacted that way but Wolves? just emphasised what a small time club they are these days

Thomas L'Heureux I want to see WIgan stay up. I've got a lot of respect for Martinez and it would be good to see them stay in the division whilst trying to play decent football. They have got some dead-wood in their side though so will be in trouble again next season if they don't invest. It's also refreshing to hear the chairman back the manager whatever the outcome is.

I feel the opposite about Birmingham. I'd like to see them go down and I don't like their manager very much either. They've got some decent players but they've been shipping a hatful of goals recently so it wouldn't surprise me if they did drop too.

I think Blackpool will get beaten by a similar 'United side to the one that beat Shalke so convincingly a few weeks ago. Some of the fringe players will have the chance to impress ahead of the Champions League final and I think they'll have too much for Blackpool despite the latter's brilliant spirit.

I wouldn't like to see Blackburn go down either. There's definitely a lot of work that needs to be done there, but they have some fantastic players, like Olsson, Hoilett, Samba, N'Zonzi, etc.

On reflection, happy with that outcome.

It's a shame to see Blackpool go in a way but they played suicidal football at times. Trying to mix it with some of the best players in Europe was always going to catch up with them. Adam (who's been a revelation following a very mediocre time at Rangers) and a few others will be off now so I don't expect to see them challenging for the top flight again anytime soon.

Blackpool conceded 74 league goals this year, and Birmingham only scored 37.

you can't do that in the premier league and expect to stay up

Agreed - don't think we'll be seeing Blackpool in the play off mix next season

Me neither but I think this experience would've done wonders for the club behind the scenes. They paid a small fraction of the wages that other Premiership clubs have so will not really need to restructure following their relegation. With the TV money of the season just passed and the parachute payments they'll receive in the future they will surely go on to be a sustainable Championship club which is still a pretty decent achievement in my opinion. They'll probably make a few quid out of Charlie Adam and David Vaughan having paid only £700,000 for the pair (they'll comfortably sell them for more than ten times that I imagine).

Fair play to them really. To have come within half-an-hour of staying in the division they've done remarkably well.

Some quite decent words from Hunt there. Who'd have thought it? He took his goal very well too.

^ TLH, it's also for the best that Blackpool went down heads held high rather than do a Hull on scrape survival then have a horrid 2nd season.

Yeah good shout mate, I hadn't even considered that. If they'd have stayed up next season could've potentially been a pretty horrible one for them.

I've no idea what their opening deficit looked like but seeing as they've done the PL season very sensibly they must have retained a very decent pile of dosh - with the parachute payments to come and surpluses from this season (and profit on Charlie Adams to swell the coffers) I'd be surprised if they don't put together a squad that features near the top of the table next year.
