Ferguson should have let Rooney play  rather than letting him get ready for an audience with the pope so that he could request all his sins be forgiven.
Mind you the pope by all accounts is a very busy chap so probably wouldn't have long enough to hear Wayne's confession.

What happened?

They parked the bus against Man U's reserve team (who seemed unable to pass the ball to each other)

reserve team? 393 international appearances between them? 3 international captains, a line up that, at £96M was more expensive than Barcelona's line up last night?

Kuszczak - £2m
Brown - youth system
Ferdinand - £30m
Smalling - £8m (suggestions this could have been as much as £12M but lets give them the benefit of the doubt)
Fabio - undisclosed
Park Ji-Sung - £4m
Fletcher - youth system
Gibson - youth system
Valencia - £16m
Rooney - £30m
Hernandez - £6m

It's still a reserve team though:

Van Der Sar
Neville
Evans
O'Shea
Evra
Scholes
Giggs
Nani
Berbatov

All left out.

I think those values are what they spent not what they would now go for.

The final book value of Ferdinand's contract in Manchester United's accounts was £33 million

Surely that just shows how overpriced the Premier League is, the fact that Manchester United put out a £96M 'second XI' and are unable to get a decent result whereas Barcelona with 8 starting XI players who came through their academy manage to win 5-1 against a similar strength of opposition who deployed a similar style of tactics?

Hardly a Reseves team with Rooney,Fletcher and Ferdinand playing or do they now regard Rooney in particular as a Reseves player who the manager will only pick now and then?

More unbelievables from Arsenal tonight. 3rd goal tonight was exquisite. Dicking all over a Braga side that disposed of Sevilla over two legs in the qualifying round.
