Pretty much agree with that. I was going to defend Howie and swap him with van der Kwaak until I remembered this:

Shaka > Marcus every single time.

Oh, and Quinn should be placed between Wright and Whitehead

Howie wasn't the worst. He was better than VDK and Bibbo and certainly better than Nick CoLOLgan who for me is the worst keeper i've seen at Reading.

I'd have Howie above Shep as well - at least he didn't cripple our best ever centre-back.

no problem with Howie myself. I thought he was one of Burns better signings (damning with faint praise).

Certainly have Van der Crap, Sheppard & Bibbo behind him.

the list is missing Adie & Skippy as well as Quinn.

Ideal Hahnemann is a very good goalkeeper for a defending team.
For an attacking team, not so much, because the quality of his distribution lets him down quite often.
His primary strength is the shot stopping, imho.

Certainly towards the end of his time with us, but I seem to recall when he first signed it was his ability to kick it straight from his hands to one of the attackers that set up many a counter attack

1. Steve Howie was a better keeper than Sheppard and van der Kwaak
2. Where's Eric Nixon and Paul Barron?

Not that anyone cares but my top 5 keepers are

1 Steve Death
2 Shaka Hislop
3 Marcus Hahnemann
4 Steve Francis
5 Tommy Wright

Hahnemann decision to go was simply a financial one. We couldn't afford to keep him on his premiership wage

If we had gone up, he would have stayed

Gary Westwood is a bit of a strange one. Brilliant for a couple of seasons and then suffered an injury when diving to make a save and coliding with a post and was never the same again. Unfortunately it seemed to instill a phobia of going anywhere near the near post!!

Danny Honey, honey?

For just the sheer confidence he provided to the back four playing in front of him I would say Shaka shades it from Marcus. I was there for his debut at West Brom away midweek. Through a drunken haze up in the stand thinking who is THAT in goal and where is Stevie??!!

Other than Sheppard not being last I couldn't agree more (bar never seeing Burns or Francis)

Steve Howie - whoever he was - might well have been, Scott Howie the catastrophe-prone jock tw@t who kept goal for us (in the very loosest sense of the word) under Tommy Burns and ocassionally under Pardew most certainly wasn't.

*No Spacey*

Idea for a feature film: Frost/Nixon - comedian Nick Frost grills Eric Nixon about Vietnam, Watergate and his match-losing performance against Leeds in the Coca-Cola Cup.

I am too young to remember Paul Barron, wasn't he in late and unlamented ITV sit-com Duty Free?
