Bent moving for up to £24m has set a bit of a precedent. Wouldn't personally think Carroll was worth more than £15m though.

Not really as Bent has shown that he will score goals in the PL consistantly over the last few seasons. Carroll has had a decent few months, and scored a few in the Championship last year - completely incomparable deals I'd say.

Nooo as he always scores against us - 1233: The Northern Echo newspaper is reporting that Middlesbrough striker Leroy Lita could be on his way to Championship leaders QPR. The paper suggests Rangers value the 26-year-old - scorer of six goals this season - at £2m but Boro are holding out for £3m.

'greed.

Been having a bit of a running argument with the Spurs fan I sit opposite at work. He doesn't r8 Bent at all and couldn't believe that Suarez went for less money than him. My argument was that whilst Suarez is almost certainly technically a better player, Bent has consistently proven that he'll score goals in the PL. His record at Spurs wasn't even that bad I don't think.

I know a Spurs fan that says the same. Typical 'he was no good at my club therefore he is rubbish' small minded attitude.

Rumour now is that the bid wasn't serious 'a smoke screen'. Wishful thinking? Good job NUFC didn't say 'yes'.

Torres in a helicopter. Lots of nasty jokes coming up there.

Silver Fox Deadline day is the worst day of the year, media driven nonce sense

^ This. And if anything the January one is actually worse than the August one.

Telegraph's man in Liverpool says no helicopter. I believe that Suarez's family are on Merseyside, he'll have to get them out before changing his mind. Perhaps they could seek sanctuary at Goodison Park

LOL at all of this. Carroll for 30 million, Torres for 50. QPR bidding 2million for Lita. This is more unrealistic than Championship manager.
