Heh. Thanks all.

Mind you, we turned the bastards over in the 'real' game at EP on the Friday night that season, one of the best games I've seen there.

Great stuff.

prostak Ignoring the small-town bitterness for a moment, Wanderers reached the playoff final in 01 then of course the League Cup final a couple of years later, but both during Wembley's closure iirc. So yes, first time at Wembley since 95. Still... Big day out at Wembley is probably > big day out in the estates of Manchester.

Thanx Prostak

thought that to be the case, but couldn't be arsed to do the research myself

That's all well and good, but Stoke are an abortion of a football team, and Bolton just got raped 5-0 by them at Wembley.

O, absolutely. I think that's the most abject performance I've ever supported. And I do hope Stoke thrash City just as hard. Reading's shot at this chance will come - my Toryboy boyf and i were earlier discussing how Bolton are Reading of 5 or 10 years into the future. I suppose Wanderers shall have to console ourselves with a comfortable top-half finish in the Premier League.

Man, sorry - I forgot about the semis. We're virtually resident. In the basement, not even ground floor, but nonetheless.

Ian Herring I do hold grudges. That f*cking hurt in '95 losing to those mongoloids in the manner we did, dead on our legs and players going down like flies and that cheating dipper Macateer up to his Birkenhead tricks.

Mostly because I wanted the Premiership to have to endure Elm Park for at least one season, for the newly-monied glossier clubs' fans to have to come and stand on the Town End and get soaked when it rained and the rise taken out of them in that lovely 'Southbank way'. So that the commentators and pundits could discuss our 'shambolic' surroundings and describe us as 'paupers'.

Bolton Wanderers ruined that dream for me, and for that reason alone, it is with a smile of satisfaction and the sense of the evening of old scores that I witnessed their Wembley capitulation against the Potters. I hope it hurt, you monkeys! Still serves you right for having a supermarket on your old away terrace at Burnden, and then for naming your new ground after a training shoe.

'I feel good!' You used to play after games played at the Reebok.

I bet you don't today.

Which means I do. Cheers.

Are we going to mention Bolton '95 in 30 years time? Seriously couldn't care less about Bolton and that Semi final yesterday.

biscuitman - with a name like that you I assume you must have been following Reading for a significant amount of time, surely there's some footballing memories that you have that just bring back emotions - whether they be good or bad. I am certain that mention of the word Bolton will always conjure up images and feelings of that day. So I'd say 'Yes', in 30 years I'll definitely still talk about Bolton '95, doubt they're be many interested in listening though!

Ofcourse I remember that day. I was only a kid but I crying all the way home. I'm saying the bad emotions from that day has been replaced by better ones and somethings are left better in the past. Are you still bitter about Pardew? He was replaced by the best manager we've ever had in our history. I suppose I look at the positives.

Any chance we'll have a decent cup final this year now? Or will it be the usual snoozefest?

God no, not bitter about any of our ex-managers / players that takes a strange type of person to do that! Aside from the (slight) pleasure I take in Bolton's misery I was applauding Ian Herring's want to have the glamour of the Premiership at Elm Park, unfortunately for me I moved to Oz in 2003, and have missed all the glory since then!

Anyway, apologies for the thread hijack.

Regardless of who wins the Final, with Man City looking certain to get a CL spot, it means Stoke are in Europe next season, so well done to them!

Citeh aren't certain to get a CL spot at all though are they? They're only 3 points clear of Tottingham and still have to play them IIRC

last game of the season IIRC

besides there's absolutely no reason why Stoke can't win the Final

And Spurs have a game in hand........... City winning the final would be good news for Liverpool if City finish 5th. Then the PL Europa League place goes to 6th. Stoke would only get the EL place if they win the final or Spurs/ Liverpool finish 5th and City take a CL place. They may not even know until after the final has been played!

I think they will. They are safe from going down. City still have lots to play for in the league and celebrated Saturday like they had already won it. Football as we know has a funny way of coming back and kicking you in the bollocks.

I agree with that second paragraph.
