Whore Jackie
leww_rfc Think that may be it for Kean.

Stoke 3-1 Blackburn

Nah. They gave him a pay rise this week.

there has been no mention of a pay rise, only a revision of his contract.

Now the club have issued a statement saying that a 'revision' of Kean's contract has been made after a previous agreement was reached with the Scot over the summer.

They also insist that the deal is not an extension, with his deal still due to run until 2013.

The statement read: "Following recent media speculation Blackburn Rovers FC can confirm a revision to manager Steve Kean's existing contract has been completed.

"An agreement made in the summer has now been formalised.

"Contrary to some reports there is no change to the length of the contract.

"The club respects that all contracts are private and confidential and no further comment will be made."

strange situation really.

Today was the first time since September 2005 that Arsenal started a Premier League match without a Frenchman in the team.

The referee gave a corner, the lino called him over and the decision was changed to a penalty. Awful decision.

We've got nothing on Alfreton Town and Hayes & Yeading, Alfreton lead 1-0 after 90 minutes, and eventually won the game 3-2, after 4 goals were scored in injury time.

I'm sure it's not just me who has an irrational hatred of Alan Hutton. Just looks and plays like a total thug.

It's not irrational. He is the sort of player the game could do without. Awful challenge on Taylor in this match and even more reckless one on Shane Long recently.

On a different topic Swansea are a strange team. In theory their style should make for a good game but in reality when I see their home matches in both Championship and Premier League I've found the matches tight, sterile and quite boring games. I know there are exceptional circumstances today but against Manchester United, even though they only lost 1-0 and might have drawn, they never really got into them so to speak. Can't doubt their success and fair play to them but I only find that 'continental' style system of one striker attractive to watch in their away matches.

I know it's probably only me being a dinosaur though and there's no doubt the system has worked for them.

Why does Sergio Aguero have 'KUN AGUERO' on the back of his shirt?

Agüero's nickname "Kun" which features on his shirt derives from his childhood and was first given to him by his grandparents. It came about due to a resemblance to the character Kum Kum from Agüero's favourite television programme as a child. The player himself has said about it "I have grown to appreciate it because it's unique. It's not everyday an athlete is nicknamed after a cartoon character!"

Ah ok, I thought nicknames were banned?

Edit: presumably not, doesn't Chicharito mean 'Little Pea'?

They play nice football but it's a little bit of Arsenal syndrome with trying to pass it into the back of the net and also the fact that their players aren't good enough to dominate in attacking positions and find those gaps of space at this level. It's a clear system they have though - Sinclair, Dyer, Routledge all totally interchangeable with a lot of triangles and spreading through the midfield. Unfortunately you need the players who can finish it off - Danny Graham looks decent and Leroy had a good game today but they won't set the Prem alight. Maybe they're better away because of the speed on the counter (as we saw all too well at Wembley  ) but when the defence has banks of defenders and midfielders sitting back it's harder to get through.
