Starfish Question. What's the seating capacity of the Republic of Ireland's largest football stadium (not Rugby or Gaelic Football)?

50,000 - the Aviva Stadium

Rugby stadium.

Taking a hat-trick 8)

Anyway, maybe I'll ask the question differently to try and save face (a little).

What's the capacity of the biggest football club stadium in the RoI (non rugby or Gaelic Games)?

With the final not being played until the 6th June - is this the first time that the CL/European Cup Final has been played in June?

Silver Fox Exciting times for Kes there

Yep. Who would have thought minnows like us would be the 4th best team in Europe behind massive clubs like Real, Barca and Bayern. We've certainly had a meteoric rise of success since the old div 2 days.

It's actually gonna be played on 1st July, they're just announcing it on 6th June.

warte mal ......evidently me 2 - :| I was somewhat clumsily trying to 'bait' Borisov - in that they they failed - at odds of 1/6 - to overcome an Albanian side - then found out they were quite respectable domestically.

Am still slightly puzzled that they have such a relatively small arena - and - for shame - have also discovered Football is the biggest spectator and participant sport in Shqipëri.

Indeed (looked it up in the wikiworld 8) ) their national stadium (Qemal Stafa) was closed in 2013 and had a capacity of 35,000 - they were trying to refurb/upgrade it - presumably to open in time for the Euro 16 qualifiers.

...the description of the original 'new' layout for QS was pretty funky too - red/black and outline in the shape of the country. Sadly this appears to have been scrapped and they are building another brand new one somewhere else and will demolish and rebuild it to a standard layout - giving them 2 UEFA 'high-level' stadia .

.... I think I want to go to Korce now! :)

... had a vague notion to go and watch this in the Gateway last night but didn't really want to intrude upon a tidal wave of private grief. 8)

Will get the low-down from my 'Bhoys-supporting' mate tonight - plus being of Polish extraction and brung-up as your Sarf-West Lahndener - he's always pretty phlegmatic about these things. Besides he's also an ex-Bookie, so generally takes any such setbacks more or less in his stride - being used to shifts in profit/loss in fairly equal measures.

Fortunately for him - these days we don't see so much of our other associate, who was a Gers fan - but then again being from Newport, I'm fairly sure he only adopted them as his 2nd team to piss off all the Celtic fans he worked with!

....real 'Terry Collier-Likely Lad point of view' - hates foreigners; doesn't like the English - ......but not as much as he dislikes the Welsh and he didn't really get on with many people from his own town when he lived there either!

Losing 4-1  after all that "why should we have to qualify?" business too.

Legia Warsaw struggled to a 1-1 draw at home (with an injury-time equalizer) in the previous round against St. Patrick's Athletic.

They won the return leg 0-5 mind.

Starfish Taking a hat-trick 8)

Anyway, maybe I'll ask the question differently to try and save face (a little).

What's the capacity of the biggest football club stadium in the RoI (non rugby or Gaelic Games)?

Limerick play at Munster's ground so I suppose that counts that one out.

I've been past a few LoI grounds and I think Bray's holds about 7,000 and Brandywell holds close to 8,000 but although a LoI ground, it's not in The Republic. From memory most of the others hold about 5,000.

Played in and watched some games at Dalymount Park and you could tell that it was a big old ground back in the day. Record crowd of 48,000 and capacity today is 10,000.

Every source I've seen says the terraces have been closed because of safety concerns and the capacity is now 4,300.
