willz_royal Its only us that think England are any good anyway. We are an average side that should lower our expectations and be happy to get to the last 16. We have no right to assume that we are good enough to go forwards as we have NEVER proved this.

Terrible performance, nothing of note out there today, but maybe this will make the country realise we are on a par with lesser international teams, not the big boys

Sorry Willz, that's not quite right.

If our players play to the level that they do every week for their club teams then we could be a match for all but the top two or three teams in the world. The issue is one of pride and motivation. If England had given their best and got whupped by Germany then I think that the reaction would have been different.

Blame:

1. The Premier League clubs
2. The Premier League
3. The FA
4. Capello

One thing is for sure, take the Premier League and shove it where the sun don't shine

& I hope to god Reading never get promoted back there until there are serious changes to the way it is organised....

I really hate the Premier League at the moment - good job we didn't get promoted.

Cobbers -they may have had pride and motivation today but lacked any sort of offensive or defensive strategy. Comedy defending - midget forwards and a clueless midfield that resorted to pot shots. Hopeless cretninous stubborn management..........

If they were properly motivated and playing with pride then the comedy defending wouldn't have happened and the midfield wouldn't have looked clueless. The forwards will still have been midgets though - should have played Heskey and Crouch

Typical English blame the manager. The simple fact is the players are NOT GOOD ENOUGH. You could have Capello, Moronho or any of the top managers in the world and it wouldn't make a difference.

Everyone can abuse them, just ignore the Premier League and take you interest into the lower leagues.

I can't be bothered to rant about Heskey again - he doesn't even get in the Villa team

Not blaming the manager, I'm blaming the players.

However, they are good enough when they play for their clubs - they just can't be arsed when it comes to England.

Whilst taking nothing away from the shitness of England's performance, if Lampard's goal stands it could have a totally different game. At half time Germany would have been shellshocked and all the momentum would have been with England.

We wouldn't have been overcommitting at free kicks and might have gone on to win. England have been on the wrong end of the two worst refereeing decisions in the history of the tournament.

That said, we were shit at 0-0, shit at 0-1, shit at 0-2, shit at 1-2, shit at 1-3 and shit at 1-4 so maybe we wouldn't have been any different at 2-2

Players were shit. Tactics & selection were shit.

It was basically just poor all round.

Anyone who expected us to win or even out play the Germans were deluding themselves.

It's more down to the FA and the way the game is taught at an early age than the Premier League in my opinion.

A lot of Kids in this country start playing in competitive leagues on full sized pitches in full sized goals with full sized footballs at too early an age. Thus they can't develop their skills because they are afraid to make mistakes and get screamed at by adults who should know better. How many times did England give the ball away today? Looking after the ball the way the Brazillians, Argies, Spanish etc do comes from an early age.

The Premier League don't run youth development the FA do and until they change their coaching methods this will keep happening.

They get to play like that week in, week out as they are supported by very good FOREIGN players.

Lampard gets to score so many as he has the quality of Drogba in front of him making runs, holding up the ball, and laying it off. Move him to the England team and he doesn't have that.... and doesn't have the ability to do something himself. Same with most of the England players.

I agree they're alright when the likes of Torres and Drogba are alongside them but that is different to playing with England.

Or the Germans for that matter. When they broke on the counter, you just knew the ball was always going to the feet of one of their players, and if no one was available, the ball-carrier would have the patience to wait for an opening.

Players like Gerrard and Lampard are good enough when surrounded by talent, but we have a supporting cast of Heskey, Johnson, Upson ( ), Barry, James, Milner... utterly pedestrian and characteristically brainless.
