1549: England bid ambassador and BBC presenter Gary Lineker has confirmed that England were knocked out in the first round of voting. They came fourth out of four. I'm stunned

Don't see the issue with Qatar. Good to see it go to a region that hasn't had it before.

oh and being drunk in public in Qatar usually results in publish lashings or a prison sentence

Yet you don't see this as an issue? Some us happen to like being drunk in public.

That'll teach them to name Milton Keynes as a host stadium.

Apart from the country itself being completely unsuitable to play football in?

They are having to build all the stadiums especially so they can host this event. Playing football in the middle of the day in Qatar is absolutely insane.

Scotland and Wales are so disgusted with the decision that they've pledged to boycott both tournaments.

Anyone who thinks they're going to Russia to soak up the culture and explore a mysterious territory may be quite surprised of the welcome they get from Sergei and his chums as they either knock the seven shades of sh*t out of you or chase you round town

The Qatari authorities did assure FIFA they'd loosen drinking laws for the tournament's duration. It's not like anyone but terrified Bangladeshi laborers actually lives there anyway.

?

So what if they are having to build the stadiums. As long as they are done on time and suitable what does it matter?

Stadiums will be air conned too so the weather won't be a problem.

Royal Rother I don't really care tbh, but we all know that anything that can be bought will be bought, and World Cups are no different it seems.

Not really. I felt after the presentations this morning that we were clearly the best bid but made my antipathy about the outcome clear long ago.

Do you believe that England had the worst of the 4 bids?

Do you believe that money and prejudice had no part to play in the outcome?
