BBC News website on Portsmouth problems:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8468078.stm
"Portsmouth has found itself in financial difficulties this season - failing to play its players on time on three separate occasions."

Well, that explains a lot!

When Portsmouth in their current form go pop and reform as Portsmouth AFC, from which division or level of the pyarmid do you think they will they have to start again from? Ryman Div 3 (or whatever it is currently called) like Aldershot and AFC Wimbledon?

It is the small non-football creditors and the admin office staff etc that I feel sorry for.

Step 5 i think (Reading Town are at step 5 - Hellenic). But Halifax reappeared at Step 4 (Northern League) so i dont really get it fully.

Their route back would be something like:

Step 5 - Sussex League/Combined Counties/Hellenic
Step 4 - Southern Laegue (Zammoretto) Div 1
Step 3 - Southern League Prem
Step 2 - Conf South
Step 1 - Conf

Reading Town *should* win the league this season, having only lost one......i would love to see them make it up to the conference - Reading should send a few of their promising youngsters to play for them....be good for the town

Needs to be Grade E

Make your own mind up - but having both played and spectated there, it seems to have everything required

They have a clubhouse in the ground - it's just a portakabin but it's passable inside.

Dirk, what are the Premier League rules on clubs not being able to fulfill their fixtures both in terms of what happens to the fixtures played (I assume the points gained by the clubs who've beaten the wound up club will be wiped) and in terms of any further penalties against the owners of the club? I assume they have rules on such things?

If there is one club and set of supporters who deserve this, then it is Portsmouth!

Correct - that's the level that AFCW, FCUM, Scarborough and Halifax started at.

You've gotta love Sol haven't you.

Who's his agent that Skye geezer?? The penny must have dropped....hey Sol you're still owed money from Pompey, quick better get on the list of creditors and being a footballing one we will get "ours" 100%. It's like the footballing equivalent of seeing a man run over by a lorry, dying in the street and noticing it is someone you lent £50 to and going through his wallet to get it back!!

True, even for a mega rich footballer it is a lot of money, but the timing is a little insensitive.

He left in the summer. I just think someone has realised that if he doesn't get in before the 10th of Feb he could be knackered.

I'm not saying I am sad that he is doing it though!!
