Sanguine
genome City are scary. Sheesh

Agreed. Brilliant team.

I do wonder, and as said elsewhere there's not anything to dislike about the individuals players, what context though this will all be seen in if/when the book is thrown at the club for financial doping.

They were so good last night, that at one point it crossed my mind if there was some actual doping going on lol

Royal Rother Absolutely outstanding tonight.

A word for their unsung hero. Akanji must be the VFM signing of the season. Rarely puts a foot wrong, at £20m or thereabouts a fantastic addition to their squad.

Doesn’t matter regardless, £20 million is loose change for them

For as electric as City were, Madrid were woeful. City’s press squeezed so high up the park yet Madrid seemed intent on trying to play their way through it, when it evidently wasn’t working. You’d think they’d learn their lesson at the 25th time of losing it trying ridiculous passes out of their defence but to the last minute of the game (and even City’s fourth goal) they kept trying

Fine, smashing it up the park isn’t pretty but needs must sometimes, especially against a City side in that form

And why would you not use Vini Jr's pace on the counter? He's electric

He's done things I've never expected. Like that rainbow flick in the first leg.

I followed the game last night on the bbc website . There were a few comments from fans in the text updates saying if city win the treble then pep should be mentioned in the same breath as fergie. What do people think about that? It’s a definite no from me. Fergie did it at st mirren and Aberdeen before going to United and had success over decades. Pepe has always walked into already successful teams and has had money to burn.

Well, statistically he does have to be mentioned in the same breath as Fergie. Don't think his success can be denied and he will be matching Fergie's treble too.
Where I think Pep and Fergie's achievements differ is more or less what Brogue said. I would absolutely love Pep to go to a club and build them from next to nothing, turn around the fortunes of a sleeping giant or something along those lines.

He should take the Spurs job. Really will be a miracle worker if he can win something there!

I know you are speaking with tongue in cheek somewhat but yes, that is exactly the sort of job I'd like him to take.

paultheroyal Walker absolutely outstanding. Does not get the recognition he deserves. That piece of defending in the first half where he got back ahead of Vin... to prevent a near on goal typifies his performance.

Grealish, he is on another level. Brilliant season for him.

Grealish stays a lot wider than he used to. Hugs the touchline and has the agility and talent to beat his respective fullback almost every time. Had a tendency to tuck in too often in previous seasons which somewhat negated his overall effect

As much as I dislike City, it’s quite remarkable how well they’re set up. Interesting transition to the 3-2-4-1 formation and it’s like their players have a telepathic understanding of where each other are. It’s clear they’re an extremely well coached side

By all accounts a nice guy away from the pitch. Seen a few interactions he has had with supporters over the past couple of seasons, seems like he really cares.

Just about the most likeable, humble player of recent times. I honestly thought he'd be a flop at City. Fair fooks to him.

Pep is brilliant and quite affable / likeable (most of the time) whereas Fergie was brilliant but a miserable unlikable tosser (all of the time).

That said, the point about Fergie building from scratch is well made, but we'll never get to see whether Pep could do that unfortunately.

But alot of top managers now have money to burn - its what he does with it, styles of play he has created, how he moves on his team being ruthless and improving already great players to approaching world class - Grealish and De Buryne spring to mind.

He is doing everything to emulate Fergie. Treble winners (potentially) triple champions, 5 titles in 6 years. For me, he is alongside Fergie and an opportunity to be the ultimate world's best. That time will come when he leads a country. Whether that be Spain, England, Brazil we wait to see.
